I've got one on order through local Henry Gold dealer, but its going on 4 months. Popped in rural king last night and they had one, but at a higher price. Decided over night that I was tired of waiting. Went back this morning and picked it up. smile.png Like everyone says, the action is butter smooth, unlike my Winchester. trigger is crisp, and at 3 lbs, its half of my winchester. the fiber optic sights are awesome. even my old eyes can clearly see the 3 dots. I struggled with the buckhorn sights on my winchester, hence the scope. the guys on youtube were right, it holds 8 rds of 357. not 7 like Henry's web site says. 9 rds of 38 spcl. put 80 rds of 357 and 20 of 38 spcl through it today trouble free. still got some tweeking to do with the sights. I forgot my rifle rest. I'll probably end up with an optic on it, either a red dot, or the Leupold 2.5X that is on my winchester. not sure what I'll do when I get the one on order. thinking about keeping it and getting a walnut stock for it, who knows.

If you end up with 2 Henrys, I'd say tactilol the bejezzus out of one of them and keep the other more traditional. Thats just me though. I have yet to see a 357/38 version in the wild, so to speak. I wouldn't mind one to match my Blackhawk. It would probably force me to switch to FMJ for plinking instead of cast. An associate has trouble getting the rifle to shoot cast without leading. It might just require different sizing or something.

All Weather stock would look nice on an X model, it's what I'd do. It be nice if someone made a wood forend that is cut for mlok with a metal insert. I've been on the hunt for a .357 in either case hardened color or All Weather. I hope with Marlin starting to come threaded, Henry starts threading the All Weather

Nice write up!

Just got back from a quick range trip, with my rifle rest this time. icon_e_wink.gif got it sighted in and all 3 screws loctited.(blue) I just can't get over how smooth the action and trigger are. icon_e_biggrin.gif

I don't like to shoot my Henry 22 and Marlin 336 on the same trip. The smoothness of the Henry makes me think something is wrong with the 336. A centerfire lever gun that smooth would just make it worse.

Update. installed the Ranger Point Precision scope rail. and as they claim, you can still use the iron sights.

added the hammer extension from Carlsons;

took the 2.5X Leupold off the winchester and mounted it with Warne Quick Detach rings, which are excellent.

I added a paracord wrap to the handle.

I love shooting this rifle. The action and trigger are so sweet.

I'm glad to see Henry finally incorporated a loading gate to their rifles. I may have to go handle one in person.
Have to say your Winchester is a prettier looking rifle.

That is hideous.

Love it!

I just got my first Henry as well. First of its kind H009BG commemorative rifle for my university. From calling in the order to delivery was only 6 weeks. It is right at the too pretty to shoot level so I am already contemplating my next Henry that I will put a lot of rounds through.

Nice. Good choice. I have a Henry 357 Big Boy carbine and love it. Super smooth action and very accurate. The company and the product is top notch in my opinion.

Haven't kept up with Henry lever rifles. Are more models available with side-loading gates? The tube loading system was one reason I never bought a Henry, even though some of their models looked pretty nice.

Given the heinous new legislation pending in this state, lever action rifles will be the wave of the future for those that aren't grandfathered with their ARs, AKs, Minis, etc.

Although threaded barrels will be illegal in Washington (as well as muzzle breaks and flash-hider, even on bolt action rifles) no matter what type of firearm they're on...

Yup, the newer ones have side loading gates now as well as the normal removable tube loading.

I recently put my .45 Colt Big Boy Steel Side Gate 20" up for consignment at my LGS. I had added the Ranger Point rear peep sight to it. Shot fine, but I wasn't really pleased with the feel of it when I was done. Thought the wood and steel with the modern-looking peep sight was weird. Decided to stick with my Rossi 92's.

That said, an X-model .45 colt still has a strange appeal to me. I'd probably just leave it in stock configuration.

The standard receivers (non loading gate) are being completely phased out for all center fire models. Gates are being added slowly over the next year or so.
