I have a quantity of these things left over from my 3 gun days. As advertised, they are def. low recoil, and worked good in my Mossberg 930 JM PRO when I did 3 gun (back when ammo was available and affordable) but I never tried them for any other use. I found 1 random slug in a gear bag of stuff from my 3 gun days and decided to take it to the range yesterday. Since I divested in 3 gun (and any other shooting competitions) I got rid of the JM PRO but kept the ammo. I shot the found slug at a 6" steel plate with a H&R partner pump with 18" cylinder bore barrel at 25 yards, and it hit the plate slightly right of center and made the usual cool noise on impact. Has anyone here ever used these slugs for any other purpose like hunting? Asking because I wonder how they would perform for defensive use.

My experience with them comes from 3 gun as well but out of my FN SLP they poi super high with a light modified choke.

Regular slugs are just about dead on.

I don't know how they would perform on the squishy targets. I never thought about it as the regular slugs just seemed more appropriate for the purpose but not I'm curious...

I loaded many slugs, both Foster and Lyman along with a few Brennekes at around 1000-1100 for wife, kids and myself when I was recuperating from spinal fusion.
After sighting in,the two deer we shot couldn't tell the difference.

Can't find many reviews of the Fiocci low recoil stuff. Haven't shot it myself. I think a mini shell slug would be a comparable load to the Fiocci: good enough for social work and lower recoil. I have been researching the Federal Shorties lately since Aguila QC can be spotty.

I wonder why anybody would want #8 in a short-shell. Unless "8 shot" is different from #8....

I'm always on the hunt for low recoil slugs and buckshot but have a hard time locating them. I like to run a few tubes of each through my shotguns every now and then and even though I don't shoot a ton of em, after about a dozen or so 1oz Slugs I'm usually thinking about the reduced recoil loads....:D

I can shoot hundreds of 2 ¾ #8's a day, but slugs are a different animal

Not sure. I have used the Aguila shells pretty exclusively in my Mossberg shotgun clone. I like the mixed buckshot (#4 and #1) load. I also liked the slugs. If I need to use birdshot, I have several cases of heavy 8 birdshot in Winchester AA hulls. Birdshot doesn't recoil nearly as hard in a 2 3/4 shell so I don't see the point of the mini in that load.

This doe was very impressed! Bang flop at 30yds

Remington 1187 Special Purpose with a 21” cantilever scope mount w/2-8x Burris shotgun scope.
IC choke tube. Rifled tube not as accurate.

Now replaced with Mossberg M220 20ga.
