My first

I was a late bloomer, I guess...after I got out of the Marine Corps, I purchased a Ruger SecuritySix .357 Magnum with a 6 " barrel...I've since graduated to a semi-auto Para-Ordinance .45, I still have the Ruger, my wife refers to it as HER "Dirty Harriet" gun!

1. 1858 Remington .44 cal cap and ball repro by Navy Arms

2. first modern: Smith and Wesson Model 39-2 in 9mm

first handgun

p7m8, got it new from a doctor who sold it to help pay some taxes, $800.00

First handgun was a Ruger Single Six .22lr bought in 1976. I still have it. And a few more.

walther p22. had catastrophic slide failure after 20 rounds! Sent it in, they sent it back with a defective barrel, sent it back, they sent it back with another BAD BARREL! The store I purchased it from talked with S&W and confirmed my problems and let me return the gun towards another gun of my choice if I paid the difference. I got my sig pro sp2009 and I'll never get rid of it. I love it and it's one of the best guns I've ever fired.

My first handgun was a 1911 made by colt for the Argentine military. Not one of the sistemas. It was heavily worn but I replaced the barrel with a drop in. still have all the original parts and has matching numbers.
So yeah, the first handgun I ever shot was a .45 acp and it sure was an eye opening experience. I didn’t expect the recoil. I love that gun now, not super accurate but its fun. But what else can you say about one of your first guns…..

First gun that I bought was an RG-14 with a 1 1/2" Barrel, cost $29.95 at our local PayLess Drug Store. Used it for signalling, plinking, and shooting squirrels. Surprisingly accurate in single action. Back-up for my (found) AR-7 while doing machinery watch in the Oregon mountains.

One of only two guns that I have sold, have another now that's just like it.

Colt Trooper MkIII .22LR

This was one of the few guns I have traded in for something else. It is also one I traded with few regrets. it was not a bad gun to learn on but was way too heavy and difficult to clean.

Baby Eagle in 9mm about 1-1.5 years ago at the age of 14 (of course I had to give my dad my money and put it under his name)

My first handgun was a High Standard Flite King .22 Short with fixed sights and a 6 & 3/4 inch barrel. I was just 10 or 11 years old and saved the money from odd jobs I did at a neighborhood store. As I recall, the gun cost $50.00 new back then and my Dad made the purchase for me. I saw one for sale on GunsAmerica recently for over ten times that much.

I wanted a Smith or Colt .38 but my old man convinced me that I'd learn more by shooting more and the .22 short was so cheap, even a little kid could earn enough for ammo. Over the years I put an incredible amount of ammo through that little gun and let it (and the old man) teach me. I still love that gun!

Last Christmas I gave it to my nephew who is the same age now that I was all those years ago. Hopefully, someday, he'll pass it on to his son.

Respectfully,

DarkSoldier

Oh, how embarrassed I am to admit this, but my first handgun was a Grendel .380 a friend of mine who knew his guns was selling. I thought, "If he bought it, it has to be good." Ha!

Sold that thing a short time later, and bought a Sig Sauer P220 .45. Okay, so the Grendel was my first 'gun'. The Sig was my first 'real gun'.

My first pistol was a Smith and Wesson 3913 TSW. I was in search of a handgun went into the store it fit I bought and still have it to this day. I think I made a wise choice I would carry it more but it is the handgun that my wife is the most comfortable with so it stays at the house more than with me these days.

My first hand gun was a Norinco 1911A1. Bought if from my Platoon Sergeant in 1996 for $250.00 when he got drunk and spent his entire paycheck at a... (we'll call it a) "club" one night. :)

The first handgun that I ever purchased myself was a Ruger fixed -sight Security Six .357 magnum in 1974. I was 19 at the time, so my dad had to do the paperwork, etc. but I paid for the gun. I used it at my armed security job for a couple of years, then got a 4" S&W model 19 from a LEO buddy of mine. I remember I paid him $175 for that one in pristine condition.
