FIRST PICS 500 S&W RIFLE

Here are the first pics of the Model 04 500 S&W lever gun that we will hopefully start pumpin out shortly into the new year.

At the range, 440 grain hard casts at about 1800 fps were giving us .390 groups

Lock up is a hybrid between a Marlin 95 and a Win 86 as can be seen from the photos.

That just may be the ultimate lever action. Personally, I think the .500 S&W makes a lot more sense used in a lever rifle than in a revolver.

I think that rifle may very well end all the "what gun for bear" theads.

Just out of curiousity, how does the recoil compare with .45-70 Garrett non hammerhead loads? And, what sort of loads are you using? Standard pistol loads, or some reloads.... BTW Great looking gun.... should the trick on anything on four legs on this and any other continent...

Never having put a Garret through any gun Ive shot, I cant compare..however it seems to me to be far less than the 50 Alaskan we do...my comparison is a heavey 20 guage....

We have shot Corbons in it, Horndays, HSM.....

Now nobody of cousre dared to put it up to the shoulder with the 90, 000 psi proof l,oads

Ill be taking orders at the shot show...ammo is something we wont be doing, plenty of companies doing 500

Actually its a little bigger in lenght than a 336, little smaller than an 1895...the beefy portion in the back is for the locking block, which is about 50% larger than a marlin block and locks two ways...

Now what would you all think ifin we made the same action longer and did like a 50-90 or a 50-110 lever gun
