Florida Assault Weapons Ban

Thanks, I'm good. If you carefully read the part of my post you quoted you'll find the pertinent part is:
They're so misconstruing and misquoting the Constitution that they're coming up with this:
"The Second Amendment says guns should be well regulated. And we know that by banning assault weapons, that’s not going to solve every gun problem in America, but it’s a piece of the puzzle", Leinonen added.

That's a quote from the article my post was referencing, not my words. Whoever Leinonen is, she needs to re-read it.

Okay. Thanks for the clarification.

The Brookline MA abortion clinic shooter used a 10/22 with a folding stock.

The person quoted in the article is not only ignorant of the wording of the Constitution, but also of Heller which invalidates the well regulated militia as meaningless prefactory language.

@JTHunter

Same here. I was quoting a victim in the post you referenced. Also, if we are going with context, at the time the 2A was written, "well-regulated" meant "well-equipped". And
"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few public officials." - George Mason

Well, before the "well-regulated" came to be militia were members of community who had firearms and could come out to defend communities against threats which in "good old days" were Native Americans or armed bands (pirates on land of sorts).

This is how WA defined an assault weapon.

The initiative (I-1639) defines a “semiautomatic assault rifle” to mean “any rifle which utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round, and which requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge.”

Well, that just about covers everything except bolt, lever and pump action rifles, even a Ruger 10/22 is an assault rifle under this definition.

And I-1639 is now law in this state. So everyone should realize that it isn't that difficult to define an assault rifle for the purpose of restricting semi-auto rifles. Hell, they didn't even have to address magazines, bayonet lugs, pistol grips or muzzle breaks.

Yep. Washington is ruled by the leftists on the West side of the state. I posted a picture on Facebook of my grandfather's .22 semi-auto rifle and my Extar EP9 pistol. I asked which one the liberals just made harder and more expensive to buy by classifying it as an "assault rifle". Minds were blown...

It didn't make the ballot thank goodness but you need to read what they wanted, it is nothing short of a full "assault" on gun owners and it would have effected many more guns other than a AR or AK. They even put "sniper rifles" in it, and redesigned the Florida constitution to say that citizens have no right to own guns unless they are national guard or police

The people of Florida declare that a well-regulated militia is necessary for the security of the State and further designate the National Guard of the State of Florida and organized police forces as its militia

'Military style weapon means any gun with a magazine capacity of more than seven rounds of ammunition"

"Any person other than the well-regulated militia who possesses such a gun or weapon, shall within one year of the enactment of this section surrender that gun or weapon to the local police or militia"
