I agree with those who have said he should have just continued his business calmly, regardless of that particular bank's gun policies. I don't even want to touch the 'leaving it in the wheel or on the tire' with a ten-foot-pole, but I guess I'll just say that I think that was a terrible idea, and he was lucky to find it still there waiting for him.
Now I must report my observation that the OP did not specify that the car was actually locked I'm assuming it was, BUT this story could only get sillier if it turned out the car was unlocked the whole time . Please excuse me while I laugh my butt off for a few moments at that thought. ........Ok...phew... If that had been the case, I happen to think it would still be better to have just kept it on his person than putting it in the unattended vehicle.
I think it would be good for your buddy if you show him this thread, and this wonderful forum for that matter.
