So I have been aproached about purchasing a membership to the Frontsite training intitute. Has anyone out there taken a class from them? What is your opinion of the training. If you are a member is it worth the membership? I am intersted in higher level training as I am a CRT member and firearm instructor.

I have been there five times. I have also attended quite a few other classes else where Loui Awerbuck, Appleseed, local range with local instructor. I consider Front Sight to be a second tier school. Yes, I do have a lifetime membership and paid somewhere between $2K and $3K for it about three years ago. I understand they have come way down from that. If you live close to them (Idaho is listed as your location) then it's worth it IMO. If you have to travel to train there, you'd be hard pressed to spend less than $500 between gas or airfare, food, lodging. $500 buys you a fair bit of local training.

I was there about 4 years ago. Training is top notch. I just recently purchased a lifetime membership and plan on going again sometime soon. My only complaint is that it is so far away (SC to NV).

I've ask the same questions as I have been asked by many friends...who know me as the gun guy...if they should attend. I spoke with folks I know who have been, have been more than once and other instructors who have had students who have attended. The instruction is very affordable, most of your expense is in travel, lodging, feed and ammunition.

The consensus is that they are not a top tier school, certainly not approaching the level of Gunsite, Thunder Ranch, Rogers, Ayoob, etc. However, if it were between a shooter not getting any instruction due to money...where else can you get 2 days for $150... and going there, I would send them there with an understanding of what they were receiving for their money
