As have many of you, I have THOUGHT I bought primers on line only to have my order canceled a few hours later due to out of stock. Three times it has happened to me since September.
Once, I ordered 5K and was actually told it was at the store for pickup (more on this later). I was in primer nirvana. Opened the box and there were 3 sleeves! 300 vs. 5000.
Complaints to customer service are a waste of time—“our website/inventory control interface has been broken since the spring and our IT guys are trying to fix it,” is the best info I’ve gotten.
But the brokenness isn’t all inclusive. I haven’t had any similar problems buying powder.
On primers, if I tried to buy a brick, it’d be cancelled a couple hours or even a day later. BUT, if I bought 10 separate sleeves, the sale would go through and be delivered to my local (30 miles) Cabela’s for pickup.
Most recently I made a couple of separate small purchases vs. one combined that so far seem to be working—the primers are said to be on their way to the store.
Lots of new orders due to pandemic and blah, blah, blah may factor in, but I also suspect part of the problem is the BassPro take over and some associated IT interface problems. And I presume whichever website one uses the same inventory is being accessed.
Note: Picking up at the store (if one is local) is the only really cost-effective way to buy a small quantity of powder or primers because you’re avoiding both shipping and hazmat fees.
