Full length dust covers, do they improve accuacy?

Many guns have both short dustcover and full length dust cover models available. The 1911 and CZ 75 vs SP-01, tanfolgio stock II vs limited pro come to mind.

I know the full length dustcovers put weight at the nose of the gun and help with recoil reduction at the cost of a heavier gun.

However, do the full length dustcovers improve accuracy? There is more slide to frame contact with the full length dust covers so it would seem to help with accuracy. Am I wrong or is the difference in accuracy not even perceptible?

The extra weight makes me more accurate, less wiggle. The LesBaer Monolithic frames are very nice for this. Fusion can build those as well.

But the extra weight makes me less accurate when I need to swing from target to target. Sometimes I accidentally swing past my target due to the weight.

An all steel standard 1911 with 7-10rounds is the perfect weight for me usually. I think a full length dust cover monolithic may be too heavy for me, based on the 2 I've been lucky to barrow lately.

I doubt it, but I like the look.

I really like the way the FL dust cover Les Baer 1911 looks. As long as it doesn't have a rail, it looks really good. Rails kill it.

I have this Custom Shop Operator in 9mm. It's not quite, but ALMOST like shooting a 22.

+1 on the look. I really like it. I have 4 full length dust cover guns. I "think" they are more accurate simply because there is more stabilzing weight out front.

While the extra weight will help to dampen recoil, be aware that it will make target transitions slower because of the increased inertia
