The curb of Wawa.Several are asking for clarification on where you were eating. Seems like that information would be helpful for your poll voters and easy to provide.

So were you behind the buildings and mostly out of sight or not?The curb of Wawa.
The only problem I see is that you waited for him to draw a weapon before exposing yours. That makes it an even draw (pi) best conclusion or even gives him a fraction of a second advantage.
When it comes to a SD scene you don’t want a fair fight but a clear advantage.
I did. He kept his hand in his pocket waiting for the approaches to pull his hand out.Try reading his post this time.

One person with hand in pocket, one with exposed gun. Who has the advantage?
BingoI think the situation was handled well. I don't go to sketchy places looking for trouble, but the reality is that these days, sketchy people appear EVERYWHERE.
We, the honest citizens of this country, need not concede every inch of real estate, culture, or reality that the woke and criminal minded want to take.
Well, the poster was unhurt, and he seems to have avoided the potential legal entanglements. Good outcome.I think the situation was handled well.
'true.I don't go to sketchy places looking for trouble, but the reality is that these days, sketchy people appear EVERYWHERE.
I'm not what you are trying to say. The duty to retreat, which dates back before Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Tale of the Man of Law, has been eliminated in many jurisdictions, but if avoidance is a safe option for me, I'll take it every time. We, the honest citizens of this country, need not concede every inch of real estate, culture, or reality that the woke and criminal minded want to take.
It sounds like you failed to pick a safe place to eat and you had a possibly dangerous encounter because of it.So when I had eaten, I went over to the cop car and told the officer what happened.
I think you needed to inform the police immediately instead of waiting to finish your sandwich. So when I had eaten, I went over to the cop car and told the officer what happened.

He keeps coming and starts to reach for his pocket.
I suspect he didn't think the encounter was fun. But words matter. Think "assault weapon" or even "weapon" used in place of firearm. "High capacity" magazine. Gun "violence." But please yourself. Firearms aficionados and Second Amendment supporters are not the only people who frequent forums.Oh please. I'm quite sure the OP was sarcastically using fun as in anything but. That's how I took it.
So it's a place where you can almost expect to encounter homeless people.Wawa is a popular convenience store/gas station chain of stores that also make and sells made to order food.

This is true. This is why I don't hang out at gas stations. It's also why I don't go to gas stations when they're busy. For everyone that says I don't go to dangerous places. Gas stations get robbed all the time and I unfortunately have to put gas in my vehicle. Where are you going to meet the general public that might want to do you harm in your "safe" small city? The Gas Station.
Do you think the implied threat of a weapon would have been legally justifiable in this case?Styx's implied threat of a weapon was sufficient to cause the other guy to retreat.
He literally put this out for a critique. Yes he got away with it but that was chance. It wasn't because he had a good plan or he was implementing best practices. He got lucky. It all boils down to result. Nobody got hurt or arrested so he did good.
I can't guess since that is very much a state law issue AND how local LE would interpret in the community. The fact that no weapon was actually displayed makes a big difference.Do you think the implied threat of a weapon would have been legally justifiable in this case?

The newest ones in PA [with beer/wine sales] have seatingI've never seen any tables at any of the many Wawas I've been to all around VA. It maybe different in FL.

Hey, you've just hit on something that always cracks me up when we have these types of threads -- the folks that emphatically state that they never go to the "stop'n'robs" -- are there any gas stations left that don't have mini-marts? Not in my neck of the woods, anyway. For everyone that says I don't go to dangerous places. Gas stations get robbed all the time and I unfortunately have to put gas in my vehicle. I had to agree with you and laugh at the same time. I get gas when it is 1/4 low no matter where I am (running out of gas while stuck in a traffic accident is not a great idea) on the other hand, eating the food at a gas station convenience store is likely to do more harm than a 'possible' sketchy person . Disclaimer, OK, I have stopped and bought a soft drink occassionaly.Hey, you've just hit on something that always cracks me up when we have these types of threads -- the folks that emphatically state that they never go to the "stop'n'robs" -- are there any gas stations left that don't have mini-marts? Maybe we just have a lot of members driving EVs these days, who charge 'em at home.
