I just received in the mail the new 22# spring that I ordered for my G20. As the Wolff spring is not "captured" I have also ordered a guide rod.

With the recoil spring is a smaller spring that I believe is the firing striker spring replacement. Is it necessary to install this as well?

No. It is a striker spring, if I remember correctly. I have never installed one of them in any of my guns in which I have used Wolff recoil springs and rods.

By the way, getting the 22# spring in the first time is a b*****, but once you get it in and let it set for a little while, it will get better...and so will reliability after more than a few rounds. This set-up will require rounds on the hot side and unfortunately there is an over-abundance of weak 10mm being sold out there. Keep your factory set-up for the times you shoot this weak stuff. For more stout stuff at a reasonable price, check out Reed's Ammunition and Research. They don't always have 10mm available, but when they do, it is definitely worth buying -- quality stuff.

And you probably already know this, but if you wish to reload you might want to consider an aftermarket barrel with full chamber support and standard rifling. You can reload with the factory barrel, but only so many times before the brass cannot be trusted. Years ago, McNett told me over the phone that you should not reload brass more than three times with a factory Glock barrel...but you can do it like 20 times with a quality aftermarket barrel.

I have a Lone Wolf aftermarket barrel already. Not exactly drop-in, needs to be fitted by the smith that I frequent. Nice barrel, well supported chamber. Logo is rather silly looking IMHO.

I do reload and am looking to do so for this pistol as well. What use is a 10mm if the factory loads are anemic? This pistol accompanies me into the woods sometimes, and is definitely on the belt when we go berry picking in the summer.

Reed's eh? I'll check them out.

Fitting? I've never had to do any fitting with a LW barrel.

The LW barrel tends to FTF while cycling it.

Sometimes it feeds fine. Sometimes when I let the slide go, the cartridge noses into the chamber, but then stops about 1/3 of the way in.

I have yet to take the LW bbl to the range. Don't know how it will do during a live fire.

My LW barrel seems to have a FTF about 5%-10% of the time......I'll get around to sending it back to LW for some TLC at some point.
FWIW, I run a Wolff guide rod and 20# spring........seems like a good compromise between the factory 17# and the 22# most folks like.

I sent an E-mail to LW customer service. I'll hear back from them some time next week I'm sure.

How does the 20# spring work with factory ammo? Still cycle OK?

Never had a single hiccup with any factory stuff, but I roll my own 99% of the time. I have ran Blazer, Remington, Federal AE (basically 40 S&W level), DT and Buffal Bore - besides my loads that go from medium to nuclear.
If I was going to ONLY run DT, BB or hot as hell handloads I might consider running a 22# spring in it, but a 20# seems to be the best for all loadings.
YMMV

Lone Wolf has outstanding CS, from what I have read. I too have a Lone Wolf barrel and have had something like 3-4 FTF's out of something like 350 rounds -- but this was also with the 22# spring, which was kind of on the stiff side in a new gun. My gun in this set-up appreciates potent loads and really loved DT 135 grain Nosler loads. If I remember correctly, it had 2 FTF's out of 100 165 grain DT's and 2 out of 40 Hornady 180 grain HP's. I don't think it had a problem with 50 rounds of 165 grain Reed's, which is what I shot last time. My friend's 29 also liked Reed's with his 24# (or whatever is the max strength) Wolff spring and stock barrel.

I just ordered some more Reed's 10mm, along with .44 magnum rounds. They don't have any in stock and haven't made them yet, so I am waiting for when they do...I'm on the list for their next batch.

The Glock 20 didn't have a Gen 1 it only has a Gen 2 and Gen 3.

The Gen 3 has finger groves on the frames grip the Gen 2 has a straight grip with no finger groves.

UPDATE on LWD Bbl

Lone Wolf returned my barrel to me yesterday. Evidently they smoothed out the feed ramp and polished the chamber. The G20 cycles like butter now.

Kudos to LWD, they took care of a barrel that was 2 years old and the only cost to me was the shipping to them.
