Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph

Worse GPS I ever had, it was a Xmas gift and was still mad someone spent money on it. Had 3 garmins over the years never a problem, still have one that's 12+ years old and still working.

My TomTom GO 910 still works, would you believe…

It uses a really small Hitachi HDD, one that actually has platters and spins.

I think I bought it in 2006.

How is the garmin shot view app, dose it do anything other then log you shooting strings.
I have been using shot view app on my iPhone and it's useful. It has more functions as you have a keyboard, on a phone.
After I jazz up the info I export it to my PC via email. There it can be journalized or whatever I need.
I am hoping they listen to us and develop the product.

My Zero charged up fine yesterday evening. I just unplugged it, still at 100%, not long ago, made sure I turned it off, and will keep an eye on the charge.

It is said to hold a charge well enough to use all weekend at a match. Sooooo, it should hold a charge much longer than that not being used...........

Maybe the battery pack needed "breaking in" :D

That could be the case. Mine seems to be really good with battery life. I wonder what the power consumption is and what ma/hr the battery is?
I initially considered carrying one of those big battery USB output thingys when away from the grid, but now I don't think it will be necessary for a day at the outdoor range.

I have a couple of the Anker Brand batteries. They work well.

Used that brand since it first came out.

Batteries, cables, everything they make that's applicable.

Had one 26800mAh battery that saw daily use from 2017, which ceased recharging two weeks ago.

Pretty good.

Wish I would have seen it in stock at Eurooptic. looks like it is out of stock there now.

Maybe somebody else will get them in this week ?

Thanks for the info on the unit so far .

I missed the part in the manual that says to be sure the bullet travels at least 20 yards/meters, the steel is only 12 yards away here.

I'm going to test that soon, shoot the 12 yard steel and get numbers, then shoot (at) the 53 or 75 yard steel and get numbers.

The 75 yard one is the one you can see back there. It's an 18" round gong. The 53 yard target is a 16" round gong. Great for handguns.

More and more dealers are offering them, I cancelled a backorder when I saw an ad for "shipping this week." last week, and sure enough, it came right in. I plan to exercise it today.

Garmin must have seen how they were selling and put in a rush order for more from the factory.

All righty, I have Garmined. I took an assortment of 9mm to the indoor range and shot them over the Xero.
Pro: It picked up nearly all shots and I think I know why it missed three. I was shooting too fast, you need to let it do the sums and display a velocity before shooting again.

Operation was pretty simple, I did not have to refer to my printout of the instructions.

The app on my iPad picked up the data. (My phone may be too old to run the app and it is certainly too small for easy reading.) I will transcribe it to my notebook and see how to manipulate it later.

The 20 yard range stuff does not seem to apply as a minimum. I shot with a large paper target as close as 3 yards and still got velocity in the same range as when at 20.

Con: It picked up many shots from the next lane at the rental range although others say theirs did not. Shots from down the line would sometimes make it flicker but not record a velocity. I got about half my shooting done before the next lane was occupied. I am going to try slanting it a few degrees away from the next lane and see if that helps. Otherwise, I will have to go in at slack hours.

It takes a lot of keystrokes. Seems like choice of gun and velocity range could stay set until changed. I don't need to see a diagram of where to hold the gun every time I start a new string. That seemed not to matter anyhow; it registered the same whether I shot over or beside the unit.

Interesting. I need to do that as well. I am going to do it 20+ yards and stopping (splattering) at the steel at 12 yards.
