Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph

The radar will track through a paper/cardboard back as though it weren't there
and for as long as the bullet flies free until the return signal fades over distance.
I guess there is enough power in the beam to ignore that paper. Excellent.
I check that out next time.

Figured that, so if it is really thick cardboard backing it might affect the readings a bit as it slows the bullet slightly.

I'm not bothered by the 20 yard/meter minimum, but maybe they will.

72ish hours and one use later, it still only shows a sliver missing on the battery indicator.

@DustyRusty suggested this case from Amazon for the Xero, so I ordered one and it came today. I also ordered a little

tripod similar to the one that comes with the Garmin, but is metal, so it's heavier, has rubber on the feet, so it grabs better,

and it spreads out wider, so it's more stable. It's almost exactly the same size and fits in the case just as well.

Got the case in brown to kind of match the Xero. Oh, and it's still holding a charge like a champ. :)

Wonder if it would work putting the xero on a chest mount like that people use for gopros, maybe be cool for pistol guys if it works. Also if you have the xero on th3 ground and your standing dose it work.

I found that if you move the Xero, it pauses a little bit and says something about motion sensed.
On the ground, now there's a thought, if I was sitting.

I carried mine by the tripod like a go-pro handle behind multiple shooters on Sunday, pointing generally in the direction of the target, I could pick up shooter by shooter, even standing behind them on the firing line. There were several mounted to rifles at the PRS finale in November, and as you might have noted, a lot of folks have started offering rail mounts for the Garmin - a lot of us are carrying rifles with Garmins mounted and picking up our shots on the clock. Admittedly, I bought a cheap arca rail instead of the more expensive GreyOps or Area419 mounts, but it's working just fine. I bought mine with the intention to mount it to my ELR rifle, which is largely static from prone, but after playing with it, I'll likely be mounting it on my rifle for some matches, or at least some stages this season. It could be hugely beneficial to get instant feedback without detrimental consequence to be able to confirm or correct velocity if a barrel is misbehaving.

The downside of WEARING a Xero like a gopro would be the aiming, and obstruction. On a helmet, it might work. On a chest mount, we'd have arms and the gun obstructing the target view, and there's too much opportunity for the unit to not be pointed closely enough to the bullet travel. A helmet/hat mount... Yeah, that could probably work... or maybe an over the shoulder mount (probably not as reliable as the head/helmet/hat mount).

Need to put it on the straps they use for head lights lol, garmin should make a clip to put one on the brim of your hat to fun with Labrador guys. Will it work if you at a firing line and you angle it to the guy a few lains down,

Not sure - I'd KINDA bet on "no," though. Just for the fact it really is so rare that it picks up the wrong shooter. I'm still not 100% certain how they figured that out so well, but it's REALLY good at discerning which shots are valid vs. the neighboring shooter. It does sometimes detect and read neighboring shots, so it spools for a few seconds as if it did pick up the shot, but then it doesn't integrate those into the data series, so it knows there was a shot, but also knows it wasn't the shot you were trying to measure.

Just ordered mine thanks for all of the info so far guys .

Got it thorugh Creedmor sports, got an email from them a little bit ago .

update,

Got and email saying the unti was out of stock by the time I ordered yesterday and they put me on back order .

Order it not too long after I got the email , seems liek they went very quick .

Put an order in at Scheels, see if that one goes through or backorder.

I picked my Xero up a few weeks ago, but just got a chance to try it out a bit today. 10 shots out of a suppressed 22 pistol with me holding and pointing the Garmin in one hand, pistol in the other. Picked up all shots no problem, and the App interface is easy and useful. This thing is a huge step up from other systems I've used, glad to be done with my unreliable Magnetospeed and clunky optical chronys.
