The Davison looks great. I just happen to like a locking blade.

I really just like seeing what everyone thinks of when they think of a gentlemen's knife. Thanks to all for sharing.

Opinel #7 or #6. (#7 is my favorite) An 8 is just a little too big to carry if you're wearing slacks, and a 5 doesn't lock.

I bought a Buck toothpick a couple of months ago because it met the new TSA requirements for carrying on an airplane. As soon as I got it, they reneged on the rule change. It's still a nice knife though, and a Case would be even better (but pricey)

I have a couple of mini trappers that I carry from time to time, but for me I think that the Spyderco Kiwi is about as perfect as it gets for a gentlemans knife. They discontinued them recently, which bums me out, but last I looked they were still widely available. Cheap, too.

Here is why I like it over my trappers and my canoe (though I have learned to really like that Canoe): One, it is flatter and lighter. Really the weight is essentially a non issue, though it is true that it is lighter and that is an advantage for me in dress pants. The width, on the other hand, is a major plus, I can carry it and I don't even feel it, plus it doesn't clank around with my can of chew. The other reason is that I really prefer a wharncliffe style blade for daily use. I have a Case mini-trapper in which the clip point has been replaced with a wharncliffe, and I just like that better. Plus, I like that it is a "traditional" knife that doesn't look the least bit traditional.

The canoe I actually like better than my trappers. I can't truthfully say why other than that I just do.

Just got this Boker Knives Plus "Chad Los Banos" on ebay for $21.00:

(it's a slipjoint, since I live in NYC and might scare someone with a locking knife....

/sigh...)

I picked up a nylon sheath for it the other day and am considering velcroing the sheath to hold it in my pants' pockets...

I really like my buck 55. On rare occasions when I have to wear a suit, it is in my pocket.

I like the Great Eastern Cutlery Ben Hogan pattern. It may be a little long closed for some, but it is a very slim single bladed knife.

Another is the Victorinox Backpacker as a possibility. It is very thin and pretty inexpensive.
