Spent some time getting to know the 9mm LCR today

The little gun is slick and points very naturally and while it may not win matches keeping 5 shots on a standard paper plate at 7 yards rapid fire was not a problem.

The Ruger clips are nice and easy to load & unload. The Ranch clips I bought are very tough to load but are super sturdy making these my pick for carry. With either loading and unloading the cylinder is instantaneous.

One thing to note is that concerns of bullet jump are VALID that you should test your carry ammo. The cheap Fiocchi practice ammo showed significant crimp jump on the 5th round after firing 4 for example. Whereas the sig ammo showed no signs of this issue.

I have four LCR's, great little guns with nice triggers, I don't have the 9mm, but it looks like it would be right up there with the 357, I like 38 special +P, it's about all I need in pocket gun/EDC gun, mine are the 22, 22 mag, 38, and 38 LCRX...enjoy your 9mm...

I also have a 9mm LCR but I haven't had the opportunity to check it for crimp issues yet (it is planned though).
I tend to agree with your whole statement and I like my LCR a lot.

I do like the LCR9. I bought a pack of 10 moon clips off amazon, that comes with the pry tool.

I agree, one must check whicb ammo works and doesn't. The worse I found was the value box of Federal 115 gr. 5th bullet was out of the casing after 4 founds. The best I found was Winchester SilverTip, which may have budged .005".
Though I have a laser on it, I plan on replacing the front sight with a Trijicon (or equal) night sight.

This is our 3rd LCR, and I personally like the grip and trigger on them.

You might want to double check before you pick up a replacement sight for the LCR 9. So far, all the replacement sights I have seen say they are for the LCR 38 and 357 only. The sight will attach easily enough, but will change POI significantly. I found this out while searching for a replacement sight for the LCR 327.

Gotcha. But if it don't, I can try on the 38 & 22. I will read up on it.

The main thing is, low light situation and the sights become useless with my eyes. But that is with any black on black sights.

So I checked Ruger's ShopRuger.com. The only sight that they recommend for the 9 (+22 and 327) is a white sight.

They others it says will cause the above calibers to shoot as much as 5" low at 15 yds. That would roughly take a 1/32" to overcome. So I will try the white sight out for now. I suppose it will depend on demand if they come out with a tritium/trijicon sight for the 9, 22, & 327.

Light gun with short barrel reqires apecialized ammo of low recoil and minimal muzzle flash. I use Federal HST 150 grain loads.
