Glock 23 Holster Advice

I don't have any idea how much cash would break the OPs bank but I have used Blade-Tech Kydex OWB holsters and Milt Sparks leather IWBs for years and still consider them darned good choices.

Leather not so good for a sportsman's holster and Kydex is plain uncomfortable for IWB concealed carry use IMHO.

Most Blade-Tech holsters are less than $75 and Milt Sparks IWBs run less than $125

I have a Comp-Tac MTac IWB hybrid that I use carrying my Glock 23. I know the OP specified outside the belt, but I don't find the G23 to be too large to have inside my waistband.

This holster has served me very well and has the added benefit of being able to change guns later if you purchase another pistol. The Kydex bodies are available for a whole bunch of guns. The leather has molded to my body and makes this a very comfortable holster. They run around $90 plus shipping, so they aren't cheap, but I feel it is worth every penny.

I have carried with this rig in pretty much any/every attire from full winter gear (in NC) to shorts and a tshirt in the summer and been well concealed and easy to carry and draw.

Of course, your mileage may vary, but that is my .02.

Open type holsters....

I'm not a huge fan of the open type or "Yaqai" belt slide type holsters.
Part of the reason for using a holster is to protect the firearm & hold it securely. ;)
An open style holster may permit different length pistols to be toted which is prwctical but I'm not thrilled with the pistol slide-front sight digging into my leg or risk being broken or damaged. :uhoh:

Some CCW license holders or armed professionals may use them but I would stay with tradional styles for carry or defense.
