For all the folks who said the G19X/G45 was the stupidest thing ever, and why won't they build you a gun with a G17 slide and a G19 grip, because everybody knows the grip is the hardest thing to conceal, well, here's your gun, the G49.

I still like my "G50" better. The G19 slide/barrel is long enough. Only 1/2" difference between G19 and G17. I shoot both equally well and 1/2 of barrel isn't going to change velocity enough to matter.

I cut a G19 grip to G26 length meaning I can use ANY double stack Glock 9mm magazine and unlike the G26 I have a rail for mounting a light on. The grip is a little short with Glock 10 round mags, but perfect with MagPul 12 rounders. (Mag on the left). The next to the right is a G26 mag with a +2 extension.

The workmanship isn't professional quality, but it works. If Glock made this version, I bet it would sell.

I have been waiting for that to be done. (I was thinking they would call it a 17X.) :D

When we did a lot of dignitary/witness protection details in suits for Court, taking dignitaries to public functions or wearing other plain clothes while protecting folks, trying to be as effective as possible while being as inconspicuous as possible was a big goal. The butt of my Glock 34 printed pretty badly with a suit on, even though I purposely bought suits with jackets slightly oversized for this very reason. So I set the 34 aside for a Glock 19 when on these details.

Having a longer sight radius and shorter grip would’ve been perfect for me and members of my teams. Too bad I retired before it came to fruition by the factory.

If someone buys one, let’s us know what you think.

Stay safe.

I would have thought that your "50" would have been the route they had chosen, as it seems to be a pretty popular conversion. At least with it, there is a truly noticeable difference in the size of the grips. The difference between the 17 and 19 really isnt anything to worry about.

Then again, is this really a "Glock" gun, or just something Talo asked for and really isnt in the Glocks line up? At least as of yet?

I recently got sucked into the red dot arena and was swapping non MOS guns out for those that had it. Apparently, Glock isnt making the 17 with the MOS now, or, at least when my local shop when to order one, they were not listed. I had taken the 47MOS he had, and later taken a 19MOS he had and wanted a 17, as thats what I normally carry. Not that there is really a difference between the 17 and 47, other than the 45 frame and the 47's "dust cover" nose.

Not having the 17 available, I started looking at the 45MOS, and hearing that the 47 was a sorta Glock version of SIG's P320 with its "swap" ability, put the 19's slide on the 47's frame and viola! Had a 45 MOS. That same swap also worked with the non MOS 45 I have.

If I take the 47's slide, and put it on the 19, you get what Talo was looking at, and other than putting a different number on the slide, no big deal for Glock. All it is, is doing what I did above.

Getting something like the "50", probably wouldnt be a big deal either, and making a quick comparison, would likely simply require a 19 slide with the "dust cover" to pull it off.

I’m a Glock shooter, but this is such a clown thing to do. How about they just sell the slide, which is basically a G47 slide, and let folks put it on their G19-5? Maybe they do…I don’t know or really care.

10 years ago, this would have been a good thing. Today? Meh.

For me (and many), red dots eliminated or greatly reduced the importance of a longer slide. Sure, you get more velocity, but minimal.

I want a G23 size MOS in 10MM.

But…YMMV.

There’s 2 things that would have made this gun a must have for me. 1- a full length picatinny rail would have just made this glock look cooler. 2- this format but in 10mm. I’m 100% sure neither one of those things will ever happen.

Glock is always about a decade late with new models, but better late than never I guess. A 17 slide/19 frame is a solid pairing and one I'd like to see Glock continue with the .45 and 10mm by using a G20/G21 slide on a G29/G30 frame. IDK if I'd want the 26 to have a 19 slide on it because with modern propellants there's not much to gain by doing so and would make for a potentially unbalanced gun. The deal with the 19 frame is that it's always been large enough it could support a longer slide and barrel.

So I have had a G19 forever. Several months back I bought a G19X. The 19X is great as would be the 45 as I like the full size grip with the 4" barrel. Not sure how I would feel with this combo.

Agree. I guess I was too critical in my original post, but I just heard so much whining when the 19X/45 was announced about how it was backwards, but then in reality, everyone loved them.

Glock is simply 10-15 years too late with this gun. They should have made 19/17/34 slides compatible with 19/17 frames by the 3d generation. I do like how the 43/43X/48’s are slide-frame compatible.

But as I said before, unless you are using iron sights, I just don’t see much benefits in a longer slide on a G19 frame.

Again, and as always, YMMV

Glock was innovative when they first hit the market , but they have been late to the game ever since and not very innovative now . Look how long it took them to finally make a single stack and a .22 and they are behind the crowd with the capacity on the 43 and 43x . I have a GSSF purchase coupon now and I am trying to figure out what I want , but the more I look I see better choices from other manufacturers .

Hmmm...when will these be available I wonder?

I have the 19X MOS, the 48 MOS, and the 26 MOS. Of the three, the 19X is my favorite to EDC and shoot.

I never shot well with G17's and owned 3 of them in the past. I'd want to shoot this G49 before buying it.
The G49 makes more sense to me than the G19X. I find it's easier to conceal a longer barrel IWB than it is a longer grip.

I currently own:
3 Glock 19's + a PSA Dagger Compact
1 Glock 21SF
1 Glock 26
1 Glock 43X
1 Glock 43

I have owned and sold or given away the following:
1 Glock 30SF - sold
1 Glock 23 - sold
2 Glock 27s - given away
Another Glock 21 - sold - was the 1st handgun I purchased.

I know a lot of guys in the 80% builder communities that have taken a G19/P80 940C frame and installed a Gen 3 G17 slide with a Gen 5 G17 barrel to make their own G19 long slide. I've also seen quite a few cut the P80 940 frame down to use G19 magazines too. The G49 fills a niche that some people do want.

I have 12 Glocks, and more firearms that are Glock mag compatible. You could say I'm pretty vested in the platform. I wanted this to be made for the longest time. Unfortunately it is too late. Between my G19 with Radian Ramjet, P365XL and Macro, this doesnt fill any need.
And I'm someone who has "2 guns a month" in my wedding vows and can justify a need for any gun I want to myself very easily.

I felt that way about the PSA Dagger pistols. By the time they finally released them to the market, I had given up on them and bought other handguns.
Yet I still had to have one.

For whatever reason, the G45/19X never made any sense to me. I kept looking at them & thinking, "Why?" But I've had a couple of friends that just loved them. This one makes a lot more sense to me. Not that I'll be buying one, mind you...
