Sidearmed...That's a pretty wide brush you're paintin' with. People can prefer one weapon system over another without hating the other. I prefer Smith & Wesson's revolvers..their older ones anyway...over Colt's. That doesn't mean that I hate Colt revolvers. I prefer Smith & wesson's K-frame revolvers over the N-Frames...but I don't hate the N-frames...and I've got large enough nads to be comfortable with the N-frames. I simply prefer the Ks.
Sometimes one weapon is chosen over another for other reasons. No secret that I'm a 1911 fan...but at the present, I've got a 3-inch Smith Model 13 on my belt, and it's there for most of my carry uses....at home and away. I still like 1911s, but most of the time, the revolver is perfectly suitable.
I've yet to see a fanboy base like the Glock fanboy base.
We live in a society where many people think that their material possessions and choices define them as people. Oh....I don't want a "silver" ipod, that's just not me....I NEED the "blue" one to represent who I am.....
Glock 17TIf they only made the glock in blue.

Guess what, a Glock didn't fit my hand either. Amazing what practice with persistence can do. Now it feels second nature.
The point of this thread is explore the unequalled, fanatical, fanboyism that Glocks seem to elicite.
They may be perfect for certain people. Just like an XDM, TRP, or FN may be perfect for certain people.Reread all the posts and try again Ben. A G19 is on my short list. I own many different manufactures and enjoy them all. The ones I didn't enjoy so much? Bye Bye. I sold my TRP, sold a CZ to someone here at THR, sold my XDM9, sold my FNAR, etc. Not because I hate them or am dedicated to one gun at the expense of all others. They didn't work for me. They are all good weapons. I am not a hater, this is not a hate thread.
The point of this thread is explore the unequalled, fanatical, fanboyism that Glocks seem to elicite. My posting of the accompanying article explains why this occurs. It is an irrational over-glorification of a material object caused by peoples need to prove they made the best choice. Glocks are not perfect yet people claim this ridiculous statement to be true. That is why I picked on Glock. Fanboys embrace many different brands and products, Glockies are a special breed though!!!
I'll post a pick of my autoloader family after I pick up a G19. It includes Sigs, HKs, and M&Ps. One of each in 9 and 45.
