Good thing it wasn't primers.

Do FedEx drivers understand the meaning of the word "Explosives"? IMG_20220713_175228342_HDR.jpg IMG_20220713_175239440_HDR.jpg IMG_20220713_175251977_HDR.jpg Actual contents were two pounds of powder in two jugs.

Not sure if it was a political statement, an attempt to see just how explosive the contents really were, or just plain lack of concern for someone else's goods.

Come to think of it, maybe it should have been primers.

The Driver is just the end of the line. Your package will go thought many hands, belts, kicked, smashed & crush. The driver just tosses the package to your door.

When I worked as a airline ramp agent, we tossed baggage like hot potatoes, baggage would fall off the tug, get runned over. EXCEPT USPS mail, it could never touch the tarmac even if it was boxed.

all in all, that package look ok. Nothing torn or ripped up. I bet it was on the bottom and got crushed by a bigger package Explosive shipment

If that box was filled with factory packed primers, you could drop it out of an airplane from any height... and it would be just fine.
The only way you're going to set primers off in transit (in their factory packaging) is for them to be involved in a fire.

I received a box of ammo from my Ammo Squared account last week. Dry weather, box came off the UPS truck soaked. The ammo boxes inside were wet and worn, indicating the box had been wet for a while. All the ammo looks good, no signs that moisture made it inside the ammo boxes.
I'm wondering whether Ammo Squared knew there could be foul play as they at least layered the bottom of the box with a foam sheet. The bottom of the box was completely open, with the only thing holding the contents inside being friction...and the tiny bit of adhesive hanging on with its dear life.

If I could stop ALL incoming mail and packages I would—getting a PO Box has entered our mind.

I don’t trust most of the mail carriers or delivery drivers with possession of anything physical nor simply the knowledge of what I send or receive.

We take all mail to the POffice.

As a former sorter at Big Brown, i can tell you that was not the driver. The sorting and loading process is rough on packages. I was unloading once, the cushiest job, when the tier behind the one i was working on completely fell on me. Luckily it was pet meds and light stuff, and i crawled out of that pile of boxes just like in the movies. Do you blame the loader or the driver or the good lord himself?

Conveyor belts back up and packages fall off. Its just the nature of the business.

HazMat is supposed to be loaded at the back of the truck, on the floor of the semi trailer. They can get things loaded on top, and some boxes look stronger than they are.

don’t forget the shipper too. I mailed back 2,000 9mm 147gn Berry bullets in a Lage Flat rate. The lady at the counter ask if I could toss it in the bin. She let me in the back dock area and I tossed it in. I heard Glass shader and a big thug! Postal lady was like, oooh well

I ordered 5K large pistol primers this month. The vendor simply slapped a label on the CCI carton and shipped it.....no over-box, no cushioning, nothing.
It went "naked" so to speak. I've never rec'd HazMat items shipped like this before.

It's all a money grab when it comes to primers. As was said, if they are in their original plastic packaging, the box could be dropped out of an airplane above your house, and not a single one would go off. lol

I saw the inside of a FEDEX van today when they were delivering a few packages to me. The boxes were haphazardly thrown in then they all tumbled from driving fast down curvy gravel roads. The back of the van was a mess. It took the driver about five minutes or more digging through all of the tossed around packages to find my 3 boxes.

IDK… Drop from a plane, I bet that sucker would EXPLODE

Don't think so. Primers require a sharp strike... enough to significantly deform the firing face in order to go off. To accomplish this, the other side of the primer needs to be rigidly held while something sharp and pointy creates the stroke. If this does not occur, the primer is just swatted away from the impact. If you dropped the box of 5k primers shown above from a plane, the box would bust and some of the plastic trays would be broken... but I don't think any primers would go off. They'd just get scattered everywhere.

I guess you could toss one up and whack it with an aluminum bat (batting practice)... but even at that, I believe you're just going to bat it out into the yard.

I don't suppose anyone with a plane wants to donate 5k primers for a real life test. lol

I heard of Primers going off in vacuum cleaners

That is why Federal trays and boxes are larger, more separation for more sensitive primers.

I once got a wet case of primers, the boxes were barely damp. I left each tray open on the bench for a day or more. All fired.

For primers to explode, the compound must be crushed, sharpy, between the anvil and cup. Impact from dropping factory packaging won't allow the "crush" to occur...

In my community, UPS has several drivers that all know the way to my house, talk to me about hunting, bird dogs, stuff.

FedEx is based in a town an hour away, and only come here on M/W/F.

UPS leaves hazmat packages in my garage. FedEx requires a signature so if I ain’t home, they come back in 2 days, unless it’s Friday.

I’ve had to drive to the local fire station to meet them because they couldn’t find my house.

Guess who I pay extra to have deliver???

I've had a few show up like that over the years. I think it is the origination packaging is done poorly, was in my case. There's too much free space in the box, and the contents are heavy, so - my theory is the weight slide around when the box is handled, and it just mutilates the shape of the outside cardboard after a long transit ride. I don't think I ever had anything damaged, but - I did have loose rounds in the bottom of a box, the internal original package busted open, and for a good 1/2 hour I could not find 4 cartrdiges that should have been there, and the outside carboard box had a tear in the bottom, so - I was debating with myself what I do about that, and eventually I found the last one, it was stuck into the clasp on a small ammo can. Didn't find it until I just started really going through every last inch of everything that was there. I was surprised I did not find any dented cases or anything like that at all. Dissapointing, but - at the end of the day I got what I ordered and it wasn't damaged, and that's all I really care about. So, no harm no foul.

I've seen that as pretty common when only buy 5k primers...because the size of the carton is perfect for shipping.

If you buy a smaller quantity, they have to package it in a box and pad it. If you buy 10k, they'll put that into a bigger box and add bubble wrap or peanuts.

You just happened to choose the perfect size to slap a label on. I always buy at least 10k and it has always been placed into a larger box to hold both cases
