Today was just beautiful in North Central Florida. After a productive morning's work, I changed clothes, and headed out to a farm north of town. The sky was clear, the temperature was just over 70, there was no wind, and the smell of Fall was in the air.
I was using the 20 ga 1938 Ithaca double barrel that I bought last year. In early season, I like 7 1/2 shot.
Sadly, I no longer have a bird dog, but I took one of my Scotties. He has a good nose, and though not trained, can find those Quail! He will NOT fetch though.
He flushed several coveys, and I brought home 6 nice plump birds. They will be dinner tonight, wrapped in bacon, and served along with corn bread, fresh collards and sweet pototoes.
Life is good.
