Why dont you ever see any? Of course, I live in cali and this is probably the last place you'd see a commercial about a gun or a gun company on cable television. I suppose it's partly because gun owners do the reasearch themselves and if we really want a certain gun (or gun related product) we will find it no problem without a commercial telling us that we want it.

I'm having trouble putting it into words but it just feels like if there were commercials about the RKBA it would make the whole issue a little more serious in the eyes of the average TV goer. It would put the message out there that guns arn't some terrible forbidden thing. It's almost as if guns are in the same category as tobacco or pornography in the eyes of the anti. "It's something that just doesn't belong on television."

I guess I'd just like to see a pro-gun message from a group that is notoriously anit-gun.

How's that for wishful thinking?

yup

I have seen a few. But only on OLN (the outdoor life network channel). Out side of that, no.

I thought you meant a commercial from the manufacturers in order to sell a new firearm model. That would rule. It would be like when you were a kid and had commercials for all the cool toys coming out airing with the Saturday morning cartoons.

"Now with Kung-fu grip interchangeable backstrap!"
or in a real fast voice
"Accessory rail not included"

You just have to know what channels to watch.

I see ads for DPMS, Ruger, Smith and Wesson, Sig Sauer, and Kimber on the Outdoor Channel all the time.

saboteur - I meant any type of gun-related commercial.

Mikee Loxxer & Freddymac - I beleive that the outdoor channels are a satellite station which you have to specifically request and pay for. I'm talking about regular old cable.

Dionysusigma - Thats exactly what I mean.

The only ones I have seen have been gun show ads that would have to have been on regular cable and most probably on free TV

I see gun show commercials and often here in Florida , also three local gun stores have tv commercials . One store has them on one of the local channels and the History channel .

See, Guns are Immoral, Unlike:

Broke-Back Mountain, condom comercials, beer and wine commercials, tampon comercials, and every other whatever there is on TV. Frankly, I find television so offensive that I have retaliated. I took out the digital cable and left the very basic. When the TV trash begin to respect the Constitution for ALL of this merits and virtues, maybe I'll start to watch it again.

It would be nice for some other cable or even non-cable ran adds for guns, ammo, and reloading supplies but don't hold your breath. That's why I always laugh when someone tells me there is no liberal media.

I watch a fair amount of OLN and really don't even recall them having Gun commercials per se. They are usually sponsors of the particular show you are watching related to the calls, optics, camo, or longarm.

It's not like you see a show and then an add for an 870 comes on showing the night intruder or something.

Darn, I'll have to watch Big Game Thursday tonight and verify.:neener:

i do not have cable/dsl/sattelite, or anything more hi-tech than a set of rabbit ears. Mosy of what is on is garbage, I do not want to import anymore trash into my house than I need to. I don't even watch except for the news anymore, and cant stomach most of that.

I find television so offensive that I have retaliated. I took out the digital cable and left the very basic.

So instead of paying the cable delivery company for the offensive content, you're still paying the cable delivery company for the offensive content, just paying them a bit less? :scrutiny:

Benelli "pump-action" spot

A little over a year ago on the Discovery channel during the afternoon, I saw a full 30-second spot for Benelli, containing nothing but images of pump-action shotguns being racked.

In the East Bay, I see ads for a local gun store, Canyon Sports, all the time on various cable channels. Before I'd been going to Hogan's, a local sporting goods store, and after I saw the ad for the dedicated gun store, I started going there.

Its not media bias

Its simple economics, ANY advertiser will ONLY pay for ads that will be seen by THEIR target audience.

Around here I occasionally see ads for local gunshops on "free" tv.

Outside of OLN, I never see gun manufacturer ads. Even in the local media, the only advertiser was one of those golde plated commemerative makers. One local TV, there is a sporting goods store that runs an ad showng their guns around Christmas. Another gunshop advertises in the TV scheduele every week.

i too have seen gunrange commercials, usually later at night on upn/wb

To say nothing of the production costs of the commercial itself. You couldn't possibly expect to get anywhere purchasing the ad time on a popular network like Fox News or CBS without having a commercial that can stand on it's own among the stuff that's already out there.

"THE" alternative radio station in Denver used to advertise (via co-op money) for "Federal Cartridge" through ads for "Fort Collins Outdoor World" every fall... seems someone thought there were deer hunters among the alternative crowd.

We (Colorado Springs CO) have spots on tv- gun show ads and TV commercials for Specialty Sports and Supply (Former Walgreens- now a HUGE gun store). Plus CCW classes in several papers, as well as the occasional ad from the local Class III dealer- Dragon Arms.

Ive seen commercials for the gun shows here in colorado.

But no actual specific gun commercials.

Wait, seems like ive seen a commcercial for a gun shop...showed an old guy with a white mustache and a girl behind a gladd top counter. I swear ive seen it but i cant remember anything else.

I want to see a commercial from the Ad Council (this is taypayer supported ) say something about the new concealed carry laws and the old ones cause there are many who do not even know these laws exsist..
