So I have an LGS with a guy I know who works there...don't know him real well...he's a coworker's cousin.

Working a deal for three new guns: Mini-14, 10-22 Carbine, LCP, $1200. I am thinking of going for it. I wanted to spend $1000 for the two rifles but he balked a little bit un put the LCP in there. Kind of tempting.

I mean it sure is a saving over MSRP but that's not saying much. Any thoughts? Am I nuts? The math works out pretty well...

The only good one in the group is the 10/22 IMHO
But if its what you want, do your research if you feel satisfied then go for it.

Not really a deal, $300 tops for a new lcp, $200 for 10/22 at walmart, $680 for mini14 at walmart too. Offer him 1k for all three see what he says.

The two rifles can be had new for less than 1k. It depends on the configuration of both though. An LCP new is right around $300 give or take 20.

Just checked Buds...you could get all 3 of them there for 1128, $11 more if you want the LCP with an ODgreen frame. All ship free, so if your FFL charges $25.00 a transfer, no matter how many you give them, you're looking at $1203.00 from Buds to you. Like others have said, unless these are some models other than the base ones...doesn't seem like so much a deal as over the average going price.

10/22 Standard $198.00 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/36_59_79/products_id/70280

Mini 14 Synth Stock 5rd Mag $640.00 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/36_59_80/products_id/75957 (Tactical Model is $28 more, and available either 5 round or 20 round mag for the same $28 extra.)

LCP Black Frame $290.00 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_49_75/products_id/54585 (OD Green Frame is $11.00 more.)

All just for your reference.

Average retail for each totals, +/- $1150.00.
A decent deal would be $1000.00.
A really good deal would be 25% off, $862.50.
A great deal would be 25% off & a 50rd box of ammo each.
Gun Deal of the Century, that would be more like 25% off, a spare mag each and 50rd box of ammo each.

Just my $0.02

Friends

You have confirmed my gut feelings. I mean, $1200 for three nice guns seems good right? But start doing some math...then not so much.

I like all three guns a lot. I know the mini is frowned upon by AR enthusiasts and I understand why...but I don't feel that way...most of the time.

I am going to throw back $750 and we'll work toward the middle. It's not like any of the three is gonna be hard to find so I can just walk out on the deal if it doesn't go my way. I am fortunate to have two or three respectable LGSs with which to do business. Thanks for the reality check friends.

Screw the AR snobs, the Minis are great carbines for general purpose putting holes in things .
I have a Mini-14 and it is about 2MOA, and would love to get a Mini-30.
Loan me $650.?

I'm broke, TV went out and I just dropped $800.00 on a half way decent LCD.

That's how I feel about the mini too. I am not going to compete in 3-gun and, having already owned a mini in the past, I can take it apart and put it together more or less by habit. I like the mini in part because I like the wooden stock...same for the 10/22.

But... When you already have a Mini-14 & AR15, and your TV goes out on the day that a new episode of 'Breaking Bad' is airing... The TV wins. :neener:

And... TV > Mini-30

Granted, I'd liked to have spent that money on other things.

A large percentage of AR enthusiasts are feaking idiots with no clue about anything outside of CoD or whatever the eff they're doing these days. Who gives an (Edited by me! ) what they think anyway?

Ruger's new Minis supposedly have addressed some of the issues of which you speak. Ruger's literature speaks of a heavier barrel. You could get more details on the Ruger forum.

AR fanboiz are probly upset because the Mini doesn't need a bullet button. ;)

If you really want the guns, don't look at it as the deal of the century but an average deal with the convenience of having everything in the same place. Now you have some numbers to haggle with. A wad of folding green stuff in hand is a plus, too. :D

Buying a three-fer should be good for some discount.

Just going by the best offer at Davidson's, I came up with $1108 total. That is $273 for the LCP, $635 for the Mini and $200 for the 10/22. All plus tax and background check. These are complete stranger prices. My local dealer will usually do a little better but he's not registered for online ordering at Davidson's.

Most AR 15 owners don't even know what CoD is. Theres a reason why alot of Gunshops have a wall of AR 15s and only a couple of Mini 14s. The AR 15 is the most easily accessorized rifle out there right now just because of the large number of after market parts and how easy it is to do that. I've found that those that feel the need to claim the Mini 14 is better make bogus claims such as that most are just CoD players and don't know what they're doing. Take a step back and realize on how idiotic that statement is.

AR fanboiz are probly upset because the Mini doesn't need a bullet button.

Isn't that just in one state? Most AR 15 owners are in states that aren't California.

It doesn't matter what you buy or how much you pay. You'll always find it a week later for $50 more at some places and $50 Less at others. $1200 is a "fair" price for what you're buying. I don't own any business' any more, but I do make every effort to support the locals. Especially the LGS

I agree kind of.

I support my locals if they are not trying to make maximum profit of me. For instance I ordered a 92A1 yesterday. Difference in price from him to buds or GB was 8 bucks or so. Difference in price from FFL transfer to tax was 15... 23 bucks Ill support my local small FFL. Difference in price to the closest large LGS 100+.

Why be so cheap?

Is a fifty dollar difference in what you could get it online worth the dudes at the LGS always remembering you as a lowballer? I cannot imagine a more effective way to get horrible, obligated customer service the next time you really want something, and they won't budge because of the memorable impression you made.

I walked into my LGS a while back, and my guy GAVE me two mags, a holster, and a few other goodies in a nice case to go with a 1911 I bought six months ago. I didn't haggle at the time, knowing that it was consigned, the price was within $50-75 another of the LGS I will not go into again, and I knew I cultivating a relationship. Really?

^ Maybe I worded it wrong? I ordered the gun from my local dealer, choosing to pay the extra 23 bucks to support him.. He normally deals only in high end 1911's. yet will order anything I want. Which works out perfect since I will not be back in the country till the 20th...

Are these new or used? Either way, it's a bad deal imo. Local shops are selling the LCP for $279, and the Ruger 10/22 is $197 at the local Walmart, although it is $217 or something at the one up the road. Then I can't remember the exact price on the Mini 14 at Walmart, but I think the $680 quoted above is fairly close. I know it's under $700. So it's not a good deal by any means, and it's at best the average going price for them.
