I'm sorry, I didn't read one of your posts right or thoroughly.Dude if we agree on the samething then how are you defending your point of view. I am not the OP incase you got it mixed up???
Well, this way people know who I'm responding to.P.S. I don't mind if people disagree, but putting everything you say in quotes and niggling over ever detail is just stupid.
That's not really a punishment, so much as people not wanting to hire a felon.1) When some gets out the quit punishing them. When it's over, it's over. The can barely get jobs, how do you expect them to make money legally if they can't get a job.
I think there are 2 reasons they are treated as such. The first is that most felons didn't go to jail because they acted in self-defense, most got their by mugging people, selling drugs, robbing banks, stuff like that. Second is that people are a bit afraid of them, or afraid they will commit another crime. I disagree about the death penalty though. While it might scare some people out of commiting their crime, I think in general it will result in a further lack of respect for life2) Stop treating them like second class citizens when they get out. Restore there right and if they don't learn their lesson then throw the book at them. Harsher prison terms and enforcement for the death penalty will decrease much as well.
Now if that happened as you describe, that's just plain stupid, and you shouldn't have gotten a felony conviction.3) Quit making so laws, many stupid and insane. You get into a little fight and now your life is over, that is insane. The guy who starts a fight and gets a black eye, busted lip and 5 stitches gets off scott free and because the government says I don't have a right to defend myself, my life is over???
Because we are the largest nation that has the mercy not to kill them? And also because of the culture you mentioned.Wonder why America has by far the biggest prison population in the world?
Very nice, I think I should save this quote.4) Stop participating in a violent and materialistic culture. Many obesessed with fancy car, clothes, etc are told you are a loser if you don't make big money. The disrespect for the working class in this country has the youth running toward crime. Have you ever listened to a rap song? It is pathetic and all the kids and many adults listen to it.
So would you like some cheese with that whine? Come on tgp, you committed and were convicted of a felony. You knew, or should have known, the price tag on your actions. And now the best insight you get out of your experience is something on the order of the laws are all wrong and "it's all society's fault." Your rant certainly shows no contrition and is hardly the statement of someone who has learned the error of his way. Indeed, to my mind it well illustrates why felons should not have lawful access to firearms.tgp said:I apologize into making this a debate on felonies, but you want the prison population to stop increasing?

So I guess what almost everyone is telling me is "You had you one shot so now you're screwed" or get a lawyer.
Thanks for the input anyway. I was hoping there was a state that honored the second amendment. Thanks to anyone that contributed some useful info for others in my situation. I know for a fact that there are many. It is unfortunate that they will get firearms anyway and face prison time. I will seek legal advice, although the only advice that is free for ex-felons are from liberal groups that don't want you to have a firearm anyway
