Gun Rights Orgs to join other than the NRA?

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership is an option (no religious requirement), I think they may have merged with one of the above mentioned though.

Knife Rights is a great one, not firearms focused of course but have been doing a fair amount for freedom as it comes to knives. Plus, they have a great raffle going on now :)

Another advantage of joining or donating to the 2nd Amendment Foundation is that donations to it are tax deductible,

What if it turns into a NRA cheerleader thread? If we can't have both side of the NRA controversy we are better of with neither.

The topic was, "Gun Rights Orgs to join other than the NRA?"

I like the Firearms Policy Coalition and the Second Amendment Foundation.
When have we had one of those recently? We have had a great deal of bashing threads that never end well. My only goal is to keep it focused on other organizations that the OP can support should he choose to do so. I'm not being a cheerleader for any group, but I'm also not going to let the OPs thread get detailed.

So who is the most effective at using grass roots donations?

If that's your criterion, state and local for sure. I don't know how that translates to where you are in Nebraska but here in San Diego, we have an awesome local group. And since we've become ground zero for a lot of major cases, it's nice to be able to support the genesis of such things. Local is all I give material support to anymore. I would give money to CRPA (state org) if not for the presence of certain people on their board. They also do excellent work.

I wouldn't call any of the big league national organizations "grass roots".

The NRA is actually doing something. The NRA is finally getting in on the ATF pistol brace beat down.
They basically wait till it's over before doing anything. I'm sure they will be there for the photo op and in the future take credit for bringing down the pistol brace rule.

I expect more of the same, the NRA won't ever be the first to move to fight against an anti gun law or rule change unless it goes after sacred fud guns.

They got shut down. The judge said the ruling applied to the plaintiffs in the original lawsuit, for NRA to now attempt to join so ATF will also be enjoined from prosecuting NRA members for violating this rule doesn't work.

100%. The NRA could be better received but they just want the past: no black rifles and only fudd culture. They are a shrinking demographic of anti-2A fudd’s that will expire soon while the rising population of new gun owners choose other organizations. I want to see their carnival in 30 years.

I am a Life Member of the NRA, but they have been completely asleep at the wheel for years now. The final nail in their coffin as far as I am concerned is the way they have handled the pistol brace ban. Money I previously would have given to NRA now goes to GOA, SAF, and FPC.
