So the other day while making my weekend gun shop run i stoped into one of the local haunts, and decided to ask if he had any Hi point carbine magazines. after much digging, he found his last one. or should i say MY new one. any way.
During this the standard small talk was going on. how hi points are fun little carbines, cheap accurate, good sellers etc. the shop owner goes on to say that hes been having a tough time getting carbines from the factory because get this. the Government is buying them up. ya, our government is supposedly buying up all out 150$ carbines.

So heres the conspiracy part. or was that the conspiracy part? why would the government be buying up these neat little guns. post your own conspiracy.

heres mine. the gov has finaly reconized this nations gravest threat. yes the threat of the undead. so to counter this they have started to stock pile carbines to deal out to the people should the dead break free of the earth and seek our tender flesh. this way the gov can stock pile cheap, semi auto guns, in a popular caliber ( we will assume 9mm for logistic support) that they can hand out to the people instead of expensive, automatic/3rd burst M16's and M4's. and the pistol caliber makes it a widely supported platform in all kinds of gun shops and sporting stores. now it just comes down to magazines

so don that tinfoil writting cap and lets hear some conspiracys

You should know better than to believe gun shop blather. I expect more from you, Hoppy. :)

i dont believe it hence the
So heres the conspiracy part. or was that the conspiracy part?

i literaly stood there and said "i cant even think of what theyd use them for" thats what gave me the idea to start a thread. what crazy tin foil wraped ideas could people come up with

Hmm, maybe cheap rifles using cheap ammunition for training of some agency's police force or maybe even to train Afghanis or Iraqi troops or police cheaply?

I don't even know why we're having this discussion. You obviously hit the nail on the head: ZOMBIES. It's just a matter of time now...:uhoh:

Wait a minute, I'm out of Wrenold's Wrap.......

I don't own any Hi-Points, but I have shot most of their models (inlcuding the .380, 9mm & .45 pistols) at one time or another. They are fun, inexpensive pistol-calibre carbines. Goes Bang! on request, and puts the bullet where you aim. Available for under $200 new.

Ugly? Yeah, so what? They make decent center-fire "trainers" for folks just getting into rifle shooting. Not much recoil, and reasonably accurate. 9MM ammo is about as cheap as it gets, barring Soviet-Bloc mil-surp arms-n-ammo.

Hi Point Carbines being bought by our Government??? Come on...you know they are spending our tax dollars and can buy any small arms that they want...they wouldn't look twice at a Hi Point!

On the other hand small town LEO's may want more than a pistol shotgun combo and maybe, just maybe, cannot afford to get a bunch of AR's for the squad cars?

Don't underestimate the threat of Aquaman and his ilk to our brave sailors and sub crews. Hi-Points were practically made for that purpose. After looking at one I reckon they might even float.

I may have to pick up one of those before the gov't buys them all. They look neat with the aftermarket stock.

what Mass gunshop was that...........I hope its not the one I am thinking it is....pm if want or post it here.

This guy's gotta be full of it. Especially when I bet the gov't could get AK's (yes, the ones with da switch) for cheap (maybe even cheaper than the Hipoints). They aren't worrying about obeying the ATF like us peasants are.

And anyway, when was the last time the gov't cared about saving money? Especially when they are spending what ain't theirs.

if hes pullin a fast one its not on me. he had a .40 carbine in the store. but he wasnt doing a sales pitch. the fact i was already buying a 9mm carbine mag, he knew i had one and i was lookin for mags not rifles.

i dont believe the gov is really buying Hi points. but i entertained the idea and was trying o figure out what possible use they would have for them. Zombies is what i came up with. i wanna hear your tin foil ladened theoreys

the truth, is probibly carbine production slowed since hi point is gearing up for the new .45 carbine ( i will be getting one)

Well, you can be certain for a fact that the US Government is NOT buying Hi-Point carbines. Why? Because Hi-Point is not harping on it. If the US Government was buying them, heck, if any agency of the US bought just 5, Hi-Point would be crowing to the moon about it (and I wouldn't blame them) just like RRA brags about their US Government contracts.

I buy 1 every other month , then throw it in a lake . Just to keep some poor slob from ever owning one :neener:

Do you weigh them down with something or just let them float? :D

No really, they are ugly. The carbines could be in a B-movie with how "futuristic" they look. Heck, they were probably originally on the Aliens rejected props list. But if they go bang and put lead on target, should we not love them?

The government... and you're in MA.

Maybe Bloomberg, whilst in the midst of his straw purchase business, listened to some of the gunshop blather. Maybe he'll be giving Hi-points to the NYPD.

I'm serious. Bloomberg's the only government entity who would purposely buy a hi-point. :p

No good theories so I thought I would come up with a fun one hold on... So my guess is there is a looming terrorist threat so the DHS is buying up these Hi-point's and getting ammo so when a massive attack/invasion occurs and the Military cannot respond quick enough they will access the ATF's gun records and give one plus oh lets say 500 rounds of ammo to gun buyers who have purchased over (another guess) 5 guns in one year, thus rather quickly forming a militia to counter the threat, setting up safe zones, ect. now it is probably they are training aids for the Iraqis but I have an overactive imagination and 8 minutes on my hands to write this with. hope you enjoyed.

My god some of you just don't know...

The gov. is buying them. They've been doing so for about a year now.

But there's a rather large back story as to why they're buying them.

To make the story short, the moon landing was a hoax. And this makes the governments job a whole lot easier considering the majority of people don't care whether we did or did not land on the moon. Turns out, we did go to the moon before the whole fake TV coverage with Neil Armstrong. What we found wasn't pretty.

The mission was to orbit the moon and land on the dark side and that's exactly what the astronauts did. When they got out and touched the ground, they saw something they REALLY weren't supposed to see. It was a building, on the moon. As surreal as it sounds, that's what they saw and that's what ground command was witnessing live.

The astronauts were immediately told to investigate this unbelievable discovery. But, before they could even cover 50 yards, people were seen to pour out of the left side of the building. The astronauts desperately made a slow dash towards the shuttle all the while these "people" were shooting at them. The video relay showed bright streaks of light passing the astronauts as they went back to the shuttle and sadly, one astronaut didn't make it.

The events witnessed and evidence such as the video were presented by the US government to the Soviets about a month after. The Soviets were very paranoid but not because of what they saw rather than they thought the US was pulling a fast one, trying to trick the Soviets into doing something stupid. The Soviets eventually came to conclude that whatever happened to those American astronauts was real and decided not to further advance their own space program to land on the moon. Years after, the US and the Soviets were working together trying to figure out what had happened and if they can create a joint effort to investigate but efforts lead nowhere.

Now, fast forward into 2005, here's where the fun starts.

Somewhere between February and April of 2005, US intelligence managed to get an ongoing message that was repeating itself non-stop. Those in the US who had prior knowledge about the fateful day on the moon knew exactly who could've been "knocking". What US intel failed to realize was that the message was being sent from an alien spacecraft orbiting right over North America but was emitting the message to specific regions of the US. A mission was called for to investigate the same spot on the dark side of the moon they had the "encounter" many, many years ago.

Fast forward again, 2-3 months later NASA got a shuttle and crew in space. As the shuttle was orbiting over the dark side of the moon, cameras were focused into regions on the moon and small explosions were seen. Apparently, our space shuttle was sighted and US intel started getting more and more messages. The messages sounded like English but was a completely different language. Within a course of 5 days, the messages were roughly deciphered with only some of language being understood. It read:

"YOU SEE US......LAND........WE SEE YOU.......ACCEPTABLE. NOTHING.....CAN TALK.......HELP FROM.......THE FIRST ONES."

As the shuttle was heading out of orbit and back to Earth, they were blocked by the alien space craft that was sending messages to the US. The crew had already heard the deciphered message and didn't know what to make of it. They and the ground command were frightful of what might happen next. As the shuttle drifted closer to the alien space craft, huge hanger doors opened. The astronauts were expected to enter the bay. Time was running out and ground command told them to do whatever seems fit. The shuttle was headed into the alien craft.

To wrap things up, these guys were friendlies. They were here from another Solar System to stop the plans of the other aliens the US had encountered the first time we went to the moon, many decades ago. Turns out the reason they were hostile towards humans was because they were studying us for our destruction. They literally wanted to blow up the Earth to prove how powerful they are in their home world. They were extremely technologically advanced. The friendlies were there to stop them but were not so advanced and couldn't endure. Through negotiations with the US, we realized that we needed to support them FAST or else we all perish. So the US gov. started to buy as many Hi-Point weapons and ammo as possible to supply the friendlies. With our support, the war raged on until very late 2006 where the friendlies were finally victorious! From the beginning of 2007 until June, the friendlies cleaned up whatever pockets of resistance there were left on the moon and are now, currently, on there way back to there own home world.

If it wasn't for Hi-Point firearms, we would not be existing in the next 5 years. Yeah, those pieces of crap were THAT close to destroying us. But the Hi-Point weapons system saved us all.

Before one of the Alien Generals that was on our side left, he told some of the Pentagon folks, "The supply was appreciated. The weapons you gave us were of wonder and awe, seen on this planet called Earth. I do not mean to be disrespectful, but they were so ugly that our eyes and even the enemy's eyes hurt by only observing them!"

It is said that the burst of laughter was huge as they all bid farewell to each other.

Wait, you mean to tell me there is a cheap, light, accurate, reliable firearm that uses a common pistol catridge issued by the US GOV? Why wouldn't the government want to get rid of it?

It's only a liability to them.

I'd buy one though, if there was a military styled wooden stock for them, like an m1 carbine or AK kit, and if I could get some hi-cap mags for them.

Well consider this; more police departments use Hi Point Carbines (7 nationwide) than either SKS or AK-47 (0 nationwide).

Something I tried with my Hi Point:

Filled the stock with Great Stuff expanding Foam. 24 hours later this took a lot of flex out of the stock and made it much more rigid so that it actually retains point of aim from shot to shot easily. Required drilling a hole for the nozzle inside the housing. Give it a whirl. At those prices you can pretty much afford to do whatever you want.

Why is the government buying out HiPoint? To arm the UN troops silly! 9mm is the most widely available round and when they drive out of Manhatten in the convoys they will swarm like a pack of locusts over all of the gun owners seizing weapons everywhere. But they sabotaged the plan... a Hi Point is only good to 100 yards you see...

No doubt the shadow government known as FEMA will be making their move any day now armed with Hi-Points! I'm sure of it! :p
