I went to the High Caliber Gun Show today (10-07-07) and crused the tables to find my grail (good and cheap). All the the usaual guns were there... over priced Mosin Nagants, pitted Colts and S&Ws commanding Southbys prices very few deals (saw some police turn-in Sig 229s for $350 but I had not the capitol to get one and make my car note).

I was about to settle on a lightly pitted but sound S&W M-10 when at a neighboring table I saw a familar shape (or rather 2). There on the table tucked between other old revolvers was two H&R revolvers, both in .32 S&W Long. The better of the two was the round butt 632 with a 4" barrel. The seller told me that the guns came from an estate sale and nobody noted them before. I said that I'm going to complete my circut of the show and when i am through I will be back. It took about 20 minutes to make my way back to his table to plunk down his asking price .... $75 + tax. Here is a pic with it's 622 little brother.

I could not wait to shoot it, so I shot it that day. I went to my favorite indoor range (it was on the way to the house). After a quick check by the gunsmith in charge and a dousing of CLP (this gun looked like it was not properly lubed since the Reagan administration). I bought a box of Prvi Partizan 95 grn RN ammo then repaired to the range. Pictures speak for themselves.

The other H&R on the table had a sq. butt with cracked grips and looked worse then the 632 I bought. I had a thought to buy both.

I'd have bought them both. I never see any around here and have wanted one for some time. What I really want is an H&R in .32Mag but I've never even seen one.

The .32 Mag

Hello 461,

I had an H&R 5 shot .32 mag. It shot a foot low and about 10" left. The foot low was easy to fix. The shooting left was corrected by filling away the rear sight on the right side of the groove and blueing.

If you want a .32 mag make whatever sacrafices you have to make and buy a Ruger SP 101. I have a 4" barrel model and it shoots Great!!!

I also have 2 Ruger adjustable sighted single six's, a fixed sight SSix, a S&W 431pd, a Marlin 94 and two S&W .32 long revolvers. I realy like my .32 caliber guns.

I also have an FIE .32 long that i gave my youngest son that is a S&W copy that shoots suprisingly well.

This caliber is the one i enjoy the most. Plan on handloading. I have two Lee molds and also cast my own bullets. This round is easy on a pot of lead.

Hope you find a gun. Thomas

Thanks Ratshooter- I'm already a .32Mag nut with an SP-101, two Single-Sixes and a Marlin, always looking for more. I've just not been able to find an H&R model which I feel is one I need in my collection. I've decided to make the .32Mag my one oddball round and will buy as many as I can find.
