Hey Guys, a local gun store has a decent condition H&R 922, good lockup but single action not functioning. I'm thinking a sear spring or rod.
Is it still a good purchase for $129 ?
I can either get the parts or maybe re-weld the rod if that's busted.

thanks for any advise.

Not in my opinion.
The gun is repairable and that's the catch.
The gun is repairable.
That costs money and the seller is wanting just a bit less than these guns sell for in functioning condition.
Parts cost money, shipping costs money, time in repairs isn't free.
$50-$75 and no more is the value as it sits.

+1

Pass, or buy it for $75 bucks and roll the dice on what it will take to fix it.

They aren't the easiest revolvers in the world to take apart, fix, and put back together working right either!

Yup. For a gamble gun like that, $75 would be my absolute max.

I bought a 922 in decent condition (probably high 80% range), in perfect mechanical condition for $100 last month.

The two H&R's I've got have nasty enough DA trigger pulls that I consider them to be primarily SA guns with swing out cylinders. So a gun with a non-operational SA would be a project gun that needs parts. So I'd have to agree with the others that you need to buy it at a cost which reflects that reality.

thanks for all the replies. i think i may end up passing on it. if it was a pure carry gun for a backup it would kinda be ok, but if the DA only trigger pull is very heavy, then accuracy goes out the window.

A friend of mine, who was a mounted cop in Little Rock, has a saying. "Horses are like women -- there's too many good ones out there to settle for one with problems."

Same goes for revolvers.

Thought I'd post an update as I've not been able to log in until today.

I ended up buying the little H&R, after further examination after learning a few things, the hammer was fine, single and double. It even has a usable hammer block for carrying with all chambers full. I carry it from time to time in a holster designed for a Taurus slim auto.

accuracy at 7-10 yards with the right ammo is around 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 inches, so very respectible. for the price it's been a nifty little pistol :)
