I am repairing a H&R 999 Revolver for a friend and had to order a new Mainspring/Guide Rod Assembly ... The old one was Plastic and was in pieces when I dis-assembled the gun, so I am not certain as to which direction the new (Steel) assembly should go ...
I am attaching a picture (compliments of Numrich) and need to know if the part is installed "as pictured" or "flipped" over ? ... Thanks for your help.

When you put that trigger spring assembly back in the grip handle place the longer end in the top position. Also replace the new trigger spring assembly with a metal head not a plastic one. After some years go by it will crumble and desinergrate in the grip handle again. Then parts might be harder to find.

Thanks for the Help ...

I installed the new (steel) assembly as directed and
everything works great again.
My friend will be very pleased.
