We don't have white painted walls for one thing. I'm sitting here shining a 350 lumen light around my office and can't imagine wishing for less. Besides, I thought we were talking about lights to use in conjunction with a handgun. Not looking for our car keys when the power goes out. In which case more is usually better. But then I may also walk outside and need to illuminate something 50yds away.

I suppose that's why they offer different lights with different lumen levels.

The latter, for me, while certainly possible, is in the extreme unlikely category.

The OP is looking for 200ish lumen versions of those lights.

My 5 lumen light wasn't a recommendation for the OP, I had made those in an earlier post, it was just a reference to using big lumen lights inside the typical residential home. Perhaps the OP has those same concerns. I don't know what his reason for asking for a particular lumen level, but I gave him recommendations for what he was looking for.

And my recommendation is for more than 200 lumens. One concern being physical size. 200 lumen lights are fairly small and you need something physically large enough to manipulate while holding a handgun. I cannot fathom a situation where "less is more" in this context.

What lights are you considering in the 200 lumen range?

The Surefire 6P/G2 size are the same size as the Streamlight and Pelican tactical lights I recommended up thread. They are the standard size for that application whether they are 600 lumen or 60 lumen.

Just got one for my birthday! With a CR123A Lithium Battery at 350 Lumens it's good for 1 hour 30 minutes; with a AA Alkaline Battery at 150 Lumens it's 1 hour 20 minutes.

Heh. I got one for my birthday about a month ago, as well.

I really like it. Highly recommended.

I'm not. No use for twice the cells and half the output. The G2 is outdated, had two of them. Don't miss them so I'm surely not going to buy something new in the same performance range.

The Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA is $50 and 350 lumens. Hard to beat that. The Surefire G2X is 600 lumens and also a good one but also two cell.

Then what was the comment about 200 lumen lights being too small?

I'm sure we'll all try to remember that when you start a thread and are looking for a light with a particular lumen level.

However, the OP is looking for a 200 lumen light.

I was exploring the Streamlight site and saw the Night Fighter X. It seems to be just what I am looking for: 200 max lumens; Momentary-on tail cap switch; Seems good for Harries Technique or The Rogers Technique. I really appreciate all the input and education .

I have tried to find a name-brand light with a tail cap switch for momentary on with around 200 lumens. Please guide me to some lights to consider as gifts for my sons . I have an old SureFire 6 p which I really like . I can’t find one with less than 600 now days . Thanks for any advice .

If your 6P uses a P60 drop in you could replace it with a Malkoff Devices drop in module.

There's a place for rechargeable, but when you run them dry it's always good to be able to switch to something else.

I'm a Streamlight fan. I like the 1L-1AA because of the varied batteries thing.

I finally decided on the Streamlight Nightfighter X.
I really like the design . It’s easy to hold with the various techniques and is bright enough without burning my retina. It has a lanyard as well. The price is reasonable . I appreciate all the input.
