Correct. The so called "calvary draw." The revolver was worn on the strong side with the butt facing forward.

This goes all the way back to the Roman Legions. The Legionary wore his gladius (sword) high up on the right side, and drew it with his palm outward.

The Romans drew right-handed, palm out -- the equivallent of a Cavalry draw. Recruits were taught not to draw while running.
