that's why I suggest using the sierra prohunter part# 1540 100gr and try the Winchester 760 powder I use 37.6gr of this powder and my savage axis likes this one! not sayin yours will but I bet you might find a treat! if you are willing here I got my sierra reloading manual out and the starting load is 36.0grs and max is 39.2grs of Winchester 760 powder using this sierra 100gr sp flat base be sure to bevel your case mouth slightly to ease the bullets in without shaving them as I use a rcbs deburing tool to bevel the case mouth of burs plus it puts cuts a angle to the case mouth and it doesn't take much to do it! this data is out of my older sierra edition 5, 2nd printing on page 307 and so also I use cci large rifle magnum primers as well to help ignite the powder much better!

I've still got some h380 and h414, I did get accuracy with it but the window was much tighter and pressures more volatile in my conditions than my beloved stick powders, so the ball powders definitely have their place but I feel no need to play with them.

Got the 58gr VMAX close to half moa with IMR 4166. With that short bullet and a 1:925 twist that's the best I could do with that combo.

I'm going to try a recipe of 90 gr. Accubonds, H414, seated 0.020" off the lands. WLR primer, Win brass.

Finding load data for IMR 4166 is not as easy as other older powders. What I did to get data for the combo I'm working on now was: download a burn rate chart, picked the closest powder that I had data for, started low and worked up. Came up with IMR 4064 right next to 4166 (94 and 95 on hodgdons chart). Also I'm finding that upper mid-range loads seem to do better for accuracy with 85gr Sierra HPBT. Tried it with 100gr SP and found a node, that printed identical to H1000 Max load, right square dab in the middle of the load range. Probably not going to have the same velocity though. Guess it's time to spring for that crony. Another thing I really like about the 4166 is it's super clean!
