Has anyone had to sue UPS for firearms damage?

I have finally received a call from UPS, after my state AG sent them 2 letters, and they are going to pay to have a custom stock made for it. I plan on taking it to Wenig gunstocks for an estimate to submit to UPS.

Hopefully it will soon be resolved.:banghead:

My boss came up with the best way to deal with UPS drivers dropping packages.....Park a semi in front of their truck. "Oh, you can't get out? Well, tell you what, you can call your boss to come over and fill out the damage claim forms for the items you just threw out of the back of the truck while we look for the keys. Camera there, there, and right over my shoulder....."

No offense to UPS employees of course, but at least in the computer world, they have a terrible reputation for regularly abusing packages... even making a sport of it in their handling centers.

There is a bit of unofficial wisdom for computer geeks... especially if you're buying hard drives, spend the extra and ship FedEx, not the often "free" UPS ground. Many have their drives fail after only a year or two (shipped by UPS), whereas the same exact model shipped by FedEx will last a normal amount of time. Maybe coincidence, maybe not. It hurts since FedEx is often a good $10+ more expensive at least, but for certain items... it might be well worth it.

reading this hurts my feelings, because my EOTech and BUIS come from UPS to be delivered tomorrow. I'd hate to sit there and watch him baseball pitch it to my porch.

Keep in mind that if the Eotech and BUIS can't stand up to what UPS dishes out, then they aren't worthy of being on your gun.

But, I do agree, the shippers do damage packages. Fortunately, I have avoided that. Others have not been so lucky. I package guns in a plastic hard case then put that in a box. The el cheapo case is worthwhile insurance vs. dealing with UPS CS or whatnot.

I've had ammo delivered to auto parts stores across town. I've had firearms delivered to the neighbors, despite the big sticker that says "deliver only to address on label", I've had barrels and rear sights hanging from damaged packages upon delivery.

They always deny the claims.

At UPS the word "fragile" is pronounced fra-gee-lee, it's the french word for throw and drop.

As much as everyone says that FedEx is better, I've had quite a few problems with them as well. In the past month I've had three packages delivered to my house, and only one of them was done properly. That one the guy came to my front door and handed it to me (I was waiting for him, since he called me to ask where the house was, since my house is a little difficult to find)

The other two must have been someone else. The first one we found in the middle of our yard, looking as if it had been thrown over the fence. The second one, well, FedEx says it was delivered 8 days ago, and I haven't seen it. I don't know if it was just not delivered, or if it ended up in the middle of my yard as well, and got stolen from there. All I know is that I ordered it, and yesterday I got tired of waiting, logged into the seller's site to get the tracking info, and discovered it had been "delivered" 8 days ago. They say they will file a claim and deal with FedEx themselves, but I think I'd rather take this one on with FedEx as well.

Of course, UPS isn't much better. The guy who delivers here is great, he's brought me two packages in the past few months, both of them undamaged. The UPS center, on the other hand, just plain sucks. The second package he brought me wasn't showing up, and when I logged into the tracking info, it said that they had tried to deliver it multiple times, with no luck. I called them, got a hold of the driver, and gave him directions. He showed up almost exactly when he said he would, gave me the package, and showed me how UPS had decided to change the address to which it was to be shipped. He seemed a good guy though, and promised to try to remember my name if it happened again.
