Have or haven't ever bought a gun just because you own reloading dies or ammo for it?

Ever used as an excuse to buy a gun - owning dies or ammo?

Either you have or you haven't - see poll.

I was just looking over all of my die sets that I have accumulated here and there, and I just realized that I have one and no gun chambered for it - .30 carbine. Now, I have a long list of guns I still want, with over 25 guns on it, but none of them are chambered in .30 carbine. But I might could just use this as a justification for picking up a real M1 carbine or a Taurus raging carbine revolver or something else - is that enough of a justification? After all, I probably couldn't get much for it to sell the die set, and no sense in just letting it sit there on a shelf until I croak. Plus, I have some ammo lying around too, and then there's that recent thread on how good of a home defense gun it is. Riiiiight, my fellow gunnies? :)

Just recently as a matter of fact. I had ammo, dies, brass but no 9mm (Luger) any more so I bought a C-9 Hi-Point (hey it was cheap!) and a Kel-Tek P-11 (it was cheap and concealable) and I HAD to have SOMETHING to use this ammo in... right? I plan to get an n59 S&W or a Beretta later. I want a double/single actions, double-stack, good quality carry 9mm. I had all the 9mm stuff for a Daewoo DP-51 Triple-Action and Astra (400?) I used to own.

I bought some .44 special rounds for my Marlin .44 mag levergun, then found they wouldn't feed. After hanging on to them for a while, I heard about a handgun called the "Bulldog" from Charter Arms... what do you know, they're affordable... what the heck? Why not? And so I got one for my very own. It's turned out to be the gun I most frequently reach for when my spidey sense starts tingling.

All because of a leftover box of ammo.

I bought a set of dies to reload 44 mag for a friend. He has sold the gun so I need to find something that shoots 44 mag.....maybe a nice S&W 29.

I have bought .454 Casull, .44 Mag and 10mm pistols simply because I could reload for them. I never would've bought them if I had to buy ammo for them.

to reload the 1895 nagant needed 32-20 and 30 carbine dies and 32-20 brass.
some of the older smiths & colts are offered in the 32-20 as well as 32 S&W and 32 colt....
an M1 may have a soothing effect on my EBR....

A friend gave me a box of 40 S&W brass, now I cannot get it out of my head and I'm looking for a Pistol in 40, my mind is made up and I can't go back.

I'm worse than that :) I got a .40S&W gun and reloading dies because of all the free .40S&W brass I could pick up at our range.

My Brother just moved to Alaska last month, and left me 500 rounds of .308.
Good enough reason to get another barrel for my Encore :)

I just bought 11 boxes of .280 Remington from a hardware store that was going out of business. I paid 8 dollars a box and now I'm looking for a rifle to add to my collection.

No, however, I bought some magazines and other accessories for the AR platform- before I bought the rifle (I knew I would own one eventually).

excuse to buy a gun

A few years ago I ordered 2000 lead rnfp bullets for my 44 special (.430). When they arrived they were for a 45 (.452). I let him know that one of the boxes of 500 bullets was torn open and bullets were loose in the big box. He eventually told me to keep the 45's and sent me the 44's. I didn't have a 45 at the time but thought now I had an excuse to get a USFA Rodeo in 45 Colt. I figured it was like getting a discount on the gun. Smokin Gator

I stumbled into 4 cases of M-1 ammo, had to buy a garand to shoot it out of!! Best buy I ever made.
