An assault weapon enables humans to shoot 10 rounds in one minute. "

So, the head of Moms Demand Action got into an argument on Twitter, and at one point defined an assault weapon as any gun that can be fired more than 10 times in one minute.

Think about that. This woman essentially wants to ban not just scary looking "assault weapons" but any gun capable of firing more than ten rounds a minute. Presumably that would include not just semi-auto guns like AR15s, but also hunting rifles, lever action rifles, revolvers, break-action guns, and any other firearm short of a muzzle loading musket.

I've also attached a screen shot for posterity.

My Ruger K77 .22 WMR bolt action rifle would fall under this standard. She sounds like a smart one. *RELOAD*

Just because you call a blue car red doesn't make it red.

I don't think anybody in authority will go along with that definition. But I've underestimated mindless people before.

That would be any cartridge gun. Someone with skill could probably do 10 aimed rounds in 60 seconds with a falling block.

Useful to know be able to point out to those on the fence where they truly stand (and admit to).

California passed a law (vetoed, but it was passed) that defined an assault weapon as any semi automatic centerfire with a detachable magazine. No bullet buttons allowed. Never underestimate their stupidity.

That's it! I'm marching down to the police station right now and doing the right thing, I'm turning in my slingshot.

No, by her reasoning a revolver in MY hands is an assault weapon and damn near a machine gun. In Jerry's hands its a belt fed.

It is scary that she is so emotionally arrested in her mindset that she can't see the simple truth of there is more guns in civilian hands than ever before and yet violent crime is at an all-time low. While correlation isn't proof of causality, that one is so strong that it makes no sense to ignore it.

They floated this after Sandy Hook, by changing their definition of "assault weapon" to cover just about anything that shoots a projectile.

The sad part about this is that there are people out there, right now, that read this and are walking around talking about it.

And while I can't prove it, I believe that this sort of stupidity sways public opinion. People tend to believe things if "Everybody Is Saying It".

If somebody says "Everybody knows that ten rounds a minute makes an assault rifle" and four people nod their heads in agreement, then it's true.

This is the very sort of thing that keeps the banners going. I'm betting that most of the banners are totally ignorant about guns, and Hollywood is not our friend here.

Why isn't there a mainstream documentary out there that tells the truth?

Why haven't we made a movie like Bowling For Columbine that shows guns the way WE see them?

I seriously believe that education would reduce the banners to a trickle.

Hmm... I've been thinking of getting into black powder pistols. Ya' think MOM would consider carrying two loaded BP pistols the same as carrying a machine gun?

I could throw 10+ darts or rocks in a minute with my hands.

Stupid, just stupid.
