Friend of mine gave me 23 9mm cases recently. Headstamp is marked * usa *. Any idea who makes this?

Pictures are way easier. I looked again and I have two cases with stars. Starline and ausa. I have no idea who makes ausa.

IIRC; at one time one could get a custom headstamp if they purchased a minimum amount (10,000?). I haven't heard of any manufacturers offering that now...

The only 9mm that I'm tossing are headstamped "FM," "Ammoland," or "IMT", due to the internal shelf
I fully understand that there are a variety of reasons that one brand of fired brass will be despised by some. However, according to the attached video, stepped brass seems to be getting a bad rap. Reloaded with barely noticeable differences to unstepped brass.

The attached video doesn't make any findings/statements at all, but it does try to redirect you to another site...as such I've deleted it. If you have a link to the full video, please feel free to attach it.

He does bring up that folks are worried about reduced capacity and increased pressure. That isn't my concern.

My concern is that cases with that ledge tend to separate at that point, but more importantly that the cases tend to bulge when deep seating 147gr bullets

I watched the whole video and he doesn't touch on my concerns about the cases with the additional ledges.

I noticed his loads are pretty moderate. Where you might see more differences would be toward the upper end of the load ladder.
