Help! It's more humid inside my safe than outside!

Ever since springtime I've been battling the humidity level in my safe. Back in February it was about 26%, which was fine. A month or so later it was in the mid-thirties. Now it's in the high forties or low fifties.

There was already one 12" GoldenRod dehumidifier in there. I tried heating up pans of dessicant and putting them in there, but that didn't hold the humidity down for long.

Today I got a second GoldenRod--an 18" model--and put it in there along with the 12-incher. Now the humidity level in the safe is 49%. But the humidity in the room is only 46%!

What's going on here?

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I will suggest an alternative. For my boat I've used this dessicant that comes in a plastic tub. its a gel that absorbs water out of the air. I holds about 2 cups and then you pour it out and reuse. It doesnt require power or heat. It always worked well here in humid VT for our winter storage.
