My Brother Passed away recently and left me a Smith&Wesson M78G Co2 Pellet Pistol. It is the style where you put the CO2 cartridge in inverted Down. After you tighten the cap there is a peircer that you hit on a solid surface to pierce the CO2 cartridge that I believe fills a separate tank. Could be wrong on that. I just tried to install and pierce the CO2 cartridge and all the gass just leaked thru imediatly when I peirced it. I know the Gun has been Broke for a long time as we has talked about possibly having it repaired. It is a HUGE airgun with what looks to me about a 8 inch or more barrel and is quite heavy. It is marked Smith&Wesson Air Gun 177 Springfield Mass USA on the false Slide. Just wondering about maybe someone knows how to fix it or possibly a person that can repair it. Can't put up a picture right now as of yet. I recall shooting with my brother when the gun was operational and it worked great. Very accurate and seemed to be quite powerful. Thanks for any help. I have seen a few reseal kits does anyone have a recomendation on any of them.

There is a guy on EEbaye who is offering a complete upgrade & service for $75
That might be your best option
I have never owned one but I believe that they are mechanically similar to the Crosman Marks and hence should last a long time
BTW: the Alfa Proj Competition Pistol uses a similar action and goes for $950

Thanks I may check him out. the gun seems to sell for around 200.00 if operational. Would like to just keep it and shoot it. Looked on ebay can't find the person yet. do you know sellers Name? maybe not using the right search.

Condolences on the loss of your brother.

An old family friend gave me one of those a few years ago. These are supposedly a pellet gun replica of the S&W model 41. Would not hold any pressure at all. I remember shooting it as a teenager in the 1970’s (man, am I really that old??) so of course I had to have it fixed.

I used this guy -

I called and spoke with him, he was very knowledgeable. So I sent it to him and he “replaced the seals”. It worked fine after that.

But - if I left it laying around for a couple days after shooting it the CO2 did leak out. So I use a fresh canister every session. Now I’d love to know if that is normal if anybody can answer that.

It shoots very well and is accurate enough for me. The trigger is real nice and it’s a great back yard shooter for me.

It's "britishautospecialty"

Buy a seal kit for a few bucks and do it yourself. It's not hard. It's been a while since I did a couple and I think There are some instructions available on Google. Also parts diagrams.

Thanks thinking I could probably handle it.

Those were very nice CO2 guns. I had one, but it was destroyed when my house burned. :-(
