I have a friend who has a Smith & Wesson model 78G (.22 caliber) CO2 airgun. He wants $125 for it. It looks like it needs a new seal on the bolt (it might be leather?) and a new o-ring where the CO2 cartridge goes. Are these pistols any good. Can I get parts? Is it worth $125? Other than the dry rotted soft goods the pistol looks in mint shape.

Thanks

.22 s & w

These are great little guns. Up to almost 400 FPS, so don't shoot something you don't want to. Good for small critters in the barn or backyard. :D:D
There are several guys that work on them.

There is a guy in the DFW area who sells sets of o-rings, I bought a set from him a few years ago. There's also a fellow on gunbroker who sells the o-rings for about $16 plus tax out of Switzerland. They aren't too hard to install if you've got a mechanical knack.

The Smith's are fun to shoot and pretty accurate. I was given one by a neighbor who thought it was 'broken', I put in the new seals and it shoots like a charm. $125 is a good deal for your friend, not so great for you if you have to work on it.

Nice triggers on them. Apparently the .22's are more accurate than the .177's. Is the trigger adjustable? It would have a screw in the front of the trigger up near the top, the adjustable trigger models are more desirable.
