Henrys new .223/5.56 rifle

Cool, I like it. I think I would opt for the 5 round flush fit mag model they already make, but this will be a cool option for those wanting to use 10 round or larger mags. A 16" threaded model in 300 blackout would be a neat little suppressor host for non AR friendly states or people that just don't dig AR's.

Looks like the manufacturers are getting scared and bringing out guns that they hope won’t be covered by an assault weapon ban.

Henry didn't make a single semi-auto gun until last year. If anything they expanded into that territory recently. Don't be so doom and gloom.

Companies build whatever they think they're going to sell. That's it. An AWB would likely see an extreme SURGE in manufacturing of them until its in place because they know they'd sell a ton of them.

I am the weird camp. It seems as gun makers are striving to bring out new models that are a just a little different something on an old platform.

The more variations the manufacturer makes the more people are satisfied. If there were a thread like this about the original long ranger and its 5 round flush fit mags, I bet there would be a bunch of people say "but I want one that takes AR mags!". We are a fickle bunch. If they can convince 1 out of 10,000 gun owners that this is what they need it will be a giant sales success. That's how enormous the firearms market is and how spoiled for choice we are.

The fact that it take standard STANAG mags, will be chambered in 300BO, and has a threaded barrel for a suppressor really does make it for tempting silent high capacity varmint gun to me. I hope they do an all weather version with synthetic furniture and a flat finish. The shiny blued finish and glossy hardwood it going to look funny with I put a three prong AAC 51T suppressor mount on it.

Ruins the best feature of a lever gun: the narrow reciever for one-hand, under-the-belly carry. Might as well have a bolt with that mag sticking down.

Henry already makes a similar lever action like this with a flush fit proprietary 5rd box magazine. This version lets us use standard STANAG pattern magazines which is a nice perk for this model. You can also use one of the short 10rd magazines and that will be moderately close/short for easier carry. Not to mention once you have a good suppressor out there on the muzzle the balance point it likely going to be just ahead of the magazine.
