BTW, I've seen Ben Hur many times and own it on VHS.

But Hollywood is a nest of commies and perverts etc...wht would you ever support them by buying VHS tapes of their filthy products...

Back on topic..

Poking fun of someones illness is disgusting..whether it be Clooneys diocy or the chortling over Sarah Brady['s cancer...

I think Heston has been in something like 80 motion pictures. I do not find him always the same. Check him out in Will Penny, The Warlord, and the Mountain Men as some examples. Good flicks.

He was even in the most recent version of Planet of the Apes. In that movie, he plays the father of the actor Tim Roth's chimp character.

Apparently, Tim Roth is also a hardcore anti-RKBA, and movie reviewers thought it ironic Roth would be in a movie playing opposite the President of the NRA.

By the way, Tim Roth has made a number of movies that featured extensive gunplay and violence. Ever see Reservior Dogs? Rob Roy?

No I dont think so unless it was just gratutious nasty rhetoric...

Yes, you did. It was sarcasm on my part concerning a common attitude toward Hollywood at this board. Now that I've explained that to you,

this affectation with your sig was tiresome after the 1st time Eric the Hun did it over at AR15.com a couple-three years ago. Try to find something a little more original if you want to stand out from the crowd.

Hmmm..I see and I guess that maybe we need a thread so we can ALL discuss whats tiresome about each other...

Naw that would take too long...

It's just his way of always trying to get the last word in.....

They're just actors, people. Don't think that their words mean much unless you allow/want them too.

Ever hang around a bunch of actors? They can be pretty vicious and petty when talking about others in their chosen field. And they do so like to hear themselves talk (performance and presence is everything). It's better to be noticed, even if its a negative, than to be ignored.

Mr. Clooney et al does not have a clue as to who, what or why the NRA is what it is, or why Mr. Heston would care to make a stand, IMO.

As for class and acting skills, I prefer a Tom Hanks/Tom Selleck or Kurt Russell performance and persona any day of the week. But that's just me and my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions.:D

Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder...

Adios

Sgt. Bob, nice sig! I love Miller's Crossing. Let me finish it.

"He's holed up at Whiskey Nick's!"

"You sure?"

"Check it, it's gold!"

"Ya know what, yage? I believe ya." -bang!-

That may well be, but it is certain that you weren't paying attention to what Golgo-13 was saying in his first post.

He was criticizing others predictable critical reaction to Hollywood. In specific, the reaction of "commies, pansies, traitors...etc."

Cutesy sig line action, but misdirected criticism.

Try to pay attention.:scrutiny:

As always we the consumer have the power, use it, don't buy anything
this guy works on.!!!:fire:

The worst part about Clooney's remark is his justifying it with Heston's political views. He's basically saying being aligned with the NRA is a thought crime heinous enough to justify a hurtful remark that would be out of line in almost any conceivable situation. If he had just made the remark and then just laughed it off as some lame Saturday Night Live type of tasteless humor, it would have been tolerable. But bringing in the political dimension lowers him to beneath contempt for me.

And Heston's rejoinder showed a lot of class.

That all being said, Clooney is not a B actor. I think he's actually pretty good. Don't know if I'll be in a big hurry to go see any of his movies now, though.

Clooney may be a good actor now, but we can only hope he will become a poor good actor. I agree with the previous post. This was as much a political statement as anything else.

Clooney is just a soap opera reject made famous by being a heartfelt, sincere, compassionate and otherwise feminine actor that plays similar roles in movies. The insensitivity on his part is inexcusable and demonstrates his lack of civility that won him his fame. To me, G. Clooney has only hurt his own credibility with his fans.

I'm reminded of one of the great scenes from an Ayn Rand book. I can't remember if it's "Atlas Shrugged" or "The Fountainhead [mea culpa] but Ellesworth Toohey asks the protagonist what he thinks about him after Mr. Toohey has basically dismantled his career options. The protagonist replies:

"But Mr. Toohey, I don't think about you."

Says it all.

(gotta re-read both those books)

Stay safe.

I doubt Colooney even thought twice about saying such an insensitive classless remark. He knows that amongst the liberal mindset of his cohorts you are given a free pass to say anything at all if it is against their enemies. In this case, the NRA.

Its all holds barred with these folks when they're not preaching Tolerance.

I used to like Cl**ney's movies because there was a lot of action in them.

Now, I think he should be barred from having guns in his movies if he's so anti.

Cl**ney movie without guns = boring.
