I have absolutely no problems with Hi Point, and this thread has nothing to do with reviewing the guns, or assessing/discussing their quality or value whatsoever.

I just had to share this, though. I was at a local Gander Mountain the other day - mostly to check out this new "Gander Mountain Academy". Anyhow, in their pistol cases, I found a brand new Hi Point .40. Cost - $449.

I can also spell it out - Four Hundred Forty-nine dollars!!! Are you kidding?

I have never seen a Hi Point pistol sell for more than $160. I almost stopped breathing for a second. I just wondered, is this a common occurance at Gander Mountain stores (for the few that stock and sell Hi Points)?

I haven't seen a hi-point at my local gander mountain, but EVERY FIREARM seems to be about $150-$300 overpriced. I can't believe people buy from there. For example, used glocks seem to run about $650. Used 642, $600. HOW??? :banghead:

Bling model with gold plate and synthetic ruby front sight?

Don't laugh, I personally saw a Glock someone had done that to, years ago.

I just put a 642 on layaway at the local GM. cost: $299. I bought a beautiful 3913 at the same store 2 months ago for $329.

well... they did add some sort of laser for another.... $160 ?!?!?!?

Wow... I love my LGS... prices as low as Bud's nearly if you count the cost of shipping. only 10% over cost on any gun he sells or orders.

Edit.... looked again... holy... they want almost another $100 for the M&P I carry. ON "SALE"

Final edit, for comparison.. Bud's selling my gun for about $50 less than I paid for it 18 months ago.

Ah, that first link explains the price. It's the super rare double action only HiPoint!

You know, I was just thinking you could drag a Hi Point on a line behind a Cessna if the cables to the flaps ever snap. Then it would pay for itself.

At a local store they were selling the C9 for $250. They priced a Nagant revolver for the same.
Some of those places just want to rob people.

I agree, some places have no shame. Went into a pawn shop trying to sell a Norinco SKS for $600.

I dont know about Gander Mountain but I was at a local gun show a couple years ago a guy had a .45 hi-point and i asked him how much he wanted for it. He said the price was $525 I asked him if he was joking, he replied that the .45 was rare and was a "collectible"... I gently set it down on the table laughed in his face and bid him a good day. Some people are just out to get as much for something as they can no matter how much its actually worth.

My local shop tries to sell them for $250 to unsuspecting yuppies. Just say NO to hosers and price gouging.

I, personally, would never pay any more than $100 for a Hi Point. So, in essence, I would probably never buy a Hi Point. :)

Awful prices on new guns and lack of black powder supplies aside, gander CAN have nice deals on used firearms. I sold a super redhawk in .44 magnum with I think a 9 or 9.5" bbl to a guy there. Used, but certainly didn't look used. I believe it was $750. Didn't think that was a bad deal for a HUGE guy wanting a larger woods gun.
By the way, I do not work at Gander Mountain, or any sporting goods/outdoor/gun store. I am just good at selling guns. I've sold 4 guns for various stores over just the last year.

Wow cabelas has them for 180+ tax i think buds is like 150 shipped id offer 300 otd just to see them turn it down

They are quite pricey! I was in one the other day (never been before) and their Kahr PM9s were going for $899. I think they also wanted like $269 for the old Polish P-64 in the case, too. Everything I saw there was at least $100 more than I typically see them.

You just don't get it, that Hi Point was used by German Special Forces, why else do you think the price would be so high?

I once saw a Nagant Revolver being sold for $350 at, of course, a gunshow.
