I thought I had heard somewhere that there was a way to take a HK USC in .45 and convert the magwell so it can use hi-cap mags like Greasegun mags or Thompson mags.

Is this true?

I think a couple of outfits are working on a conversion lower that will actually accept UMP mags.

holy crap! they were $1850 when i bought mine 3 or 4 months ago

even so, of all my guns, that's probably the most fun to shoot. i'd still be tempted.

alternately, you can pick up a used USC in a shop somewhere or gunbroker or something and send it to him for the conversion

I have the Grease gun conversion. I got it here: http://www.top-notchparts.com/USC-UMPpage.htm

It's $185, and the conversion is pretty easy. 10 minutes with a Dremel and you're done (except for changing the control group parts).

I'm perfectly happy with my conversion, it uses cheap 30 round M3 mags.

It's just a tad less money than the UMP conversion.
