Hodgdon 2024 periodical: worth it!(?)

On the other hand, when they come out with new Powders, then they "forget" the old powders work online. They can't delete your paper copy.....

Hodgden isn't as bad ad Alliant at this, but they still do it.
There's an article on the effects of changing primers and another on the effects of changing barrel length. Both include testing data using off-the-shelf firearms and pressure fixtures. I occasionally like to read about actual testing results. No reason why.

The one last year was the best in awhile imho. I have 16, 21,22,23. All have good info. Can it be found other places? Yes. I also like reading “something with a cover”( the giant bookcase I built in my living room is a pretty good giveaway🤣). Is it worth it? I think so. But not everyone will agree.

it is always good to get out, I have found the Hogdon magazines are like Nat. Geographic, No.... No topless natives, but I can never throw one out, and I will buy old ones when I find'em. While moving a small stack today, I had to open 1984, I marveled at the advertisement for a automatic powder balance beam scales, and the "30-40 Krag still viable" articles. A true time capsule.

Looking at the post above and laughing. I discovered yesterday that none of the recent "large format" annuals have loads for 32ACP or 32S&W Long. Last one that did was the 2021 smaller version. What the heck, Hodgdon?

Hodgdon's small annual load magazines are basically free, but have a very limited number of loads. Their annual load book has many more loads and a few articles, but it is a little costly. I think Hodgdon found a better way to profit from publishing slowly changing load data than printing a hardback manual every five or so years.

I don’t buy the yearly edition to the reloading manual since the data is largely the same except for new powders / cartridges. Their online info is fine for me. Three new articles about cartridge history, load work up and results of the shooting is not going to matter much to me.

Worth and wants are subjective.

I buy them more for the idea of the thing than the value of any data I have gotten from them. The data is online, which is always on my pocket rather than on a shelf in my office when I am anywhere else, and honestly, they tend to be the last resource I grab when I do find myself diving into manuals for guidance. Not a huge fan of the super condensed format or the limited data volume. But when new powders are released, that’s often the only place to find them in print for a long while, so if a person needs the new powder info, that’s one place to get it.

I've noticed some of the Western Powder load data is missing, now that Hodgdon has taken over. Hopefully it's because they are working up new data... but I don't know.

Alliant's online data is in such a horrible format, I just go to my books for that data.
