Homeowner Shoots Intruder

Welllll....we no longer live in a country with a justice system. We live in a country with a "legal" system, that is far too open to "interpretive prosecution" as I call it, where prosecutors and political hacks make law with no force of constitutional authority. As a citizen and a retired cop, my first thought is "Damn! Good for her! Score one for the good guys!" The first thing a POS, scumbag prosecutor who is looking for swag is thinking "Can I get political traction from this?". It is sad, you're right.
We've never had a justice system. What you complain about is nothing new. In the South during Jim Crow, how many Blacks that were assaulted, beaten, raped, and killed got justice? If an arrest was made, with juries made of fellow Jim Crow supporting Bigots, criminals got away with it.

I hate this part, it's like she didn't have enough justification to protect herself! That and she might be in trouble for protecting herself, from someone that came back in her home, threatening her.
Why would you hate what was reported?

Just seeing the circumstance outlined in the OP my thought would be that I would continue to defend myself by staying away from the fellow. The guy entered unlawfully once, stole the keys in a threatening manner to steal her car, came back into the house and began to threaten her more even when warned she had armed herself. As a result she defended herself and shot him. A reasonable person, if one could be reasonable when all pumped up on adrenalin, would be wary of getting close to the criminal because he had already threatened violence and had shown a disregard for his life. I don't know what her state of mind might have been after shooting the fellow, but I wouldn't have treated him. I would have held my firearm on him, been on the phone describing the situation and that I was still armed, till the police arrived.

Why would you hate what was reported?

I hate that they even have to add this to the story. It infers to others that she "could've" been in trouble for protecting herself.

It adds nothing to the story and could've been left at "the homeowner is fine and talking with authorities."
