Yeah, but the AU is arbitrary.
The AU was based on the suns distance from earth, so that's a kinda arbitrary measurement. Light takes about 8 minutes to get to the earth and the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. So, 186,000(mps) X 8(min) X 60(secs in one min) = 89,280,000 miles. I have to admit that off the top of my head that doesn't sound right, but I'm a machinist, not an astronomer.
