How good a shot are you?

Generally, the bigger the target, the closer I am to the target, and the smaller the bullet leads to better shooting. However, as the size of the target gets smaller, I get farther away from the target, and the larger the bullets get this leads to a decline in my shooting ability.:p

Well, I did fine in my defensive handgun class. I'm very rusty, though - I haven't had the time or money to go shooting much; I'm at the point where I'm generally not very comfortable carrying because the skills are deteriorating.

I'm lousy...ahem...I'm inexperienced with rifles, but improving. Rifles are very interesting.

For me, no pictures of cibles.
Sorry.

My level when I shoot 25m. One hand UIT classique shooting with any of my guns (.22, .38, .45, 9mm, etc.)

300 to 320 / 400 points cible C50 UIT.
It's a 40 shoots contrôle shoot internal national federation contest.

10m depend of my speed:D
Usualy no miss. It's the most important !!

Bye:)

I can hit what I need to hit. I've made some nice groups but that doesn't matter to me as much as the first shot from holster on target in under two seconds does. Center of mass at 300 yards with irons, head shot at 200 with a scope. I got my rifle merit badge and I'll leave it at that.

After seeing some of your pics posted (assuming they arent manipulated in any way) I realized how much better I could be.
No matter how good you think you are, remember, there is always someone better :)

No targets for proof, but I'm pretty good. No problem making cans dance at 10 or 15 yards with a good revolver. Semi autos I'm not quite as good with. Guess the revolvers just point better for me. I carry both on duty and off and dont feel at all outgunned with a SW 66. I do like my G17, though :D
Shotguns? I rock. Both at b27 targets for quals and with a bird gun for clays and what-not.
Rifles depend for me. Some rifles I shoot really well with, some I cant hit anything with. Mini-14 and I will shoot a 270/300 but a Lee Enfield I can shoot the testicles off a gnat.

indoor range, five shots fired two handed/unsupported/standing from 45', WWB 230gr FMJ ammo.

I stink at posting pictures.

With my carry gun, a 5" 1911, I can put a magazine into 4" at 25 yards with a standing two handed grip. Magazine into two inches if I shoot off a bench with two hands. My backup gun has coarser sights, I can only do about 6"-8" offhand at 25 yards. Not much smaller resting on a bench.

I'm not as practiced with a rifle, I tend to have very good days and very bad days. Good days consist of about two inch groups offhand at 50 yards, bad days consist of foot wide groups at 50 yards. When I was shooting an AR a lot, I could get about 3" groups offhand at 100 yards. Been a few years since I did that, though.

Shotguns are consistently good. Lots of folks tend to clean my clock when shooting clay pigeons, but I hit much more than I miss. I probably go about 75%.

I've only been shooting for six months so I'm a poor shot compared to the people here. However, I seem to be more middle of the road at the range. There are some excellent shooters there with one ragged hole in the middle of the target. Then again there are plenty of shooters who hit all over their target. I'm somewhere in between.

"I can shoot the whiskers off a fly at 600 yards shooting from the hip with snub nosed .38"

I actually had someone tell me that with a straight face and expect me to believe it.

Same guy said for fun he shoots quarters out of the treetops. I never asked him how he gets the quarters up there to begin with. :scrutiny:

Very true. There's a freshman that just joined the club this year that puts me to shame. He just started the same NRA Pistol Aggregate quals I make all the pistol team work on. His scores for Pro-Marksman (the lowest level, you just have to put all your shots in the rings, and if you put a few inside the 4, you don't even have to do that) 270, 268, 274.

We also compete once or twice a year against Ohio State's (school-funded) pistol team. Its not uncommon for the them to have a few people over 550/600. And most of them are girls.

3 shots is not a group.
i think if you want to BRAG about how good you can shoot, start with 10 rounds, and probly should be 20.

i've posted in the pistol competition threads. those are a really great way of comparing shooters, in a FUN way.

Honestly, not very good at all and not nearly as good as I was 40 years ago.

My eyesight was never good and at the age of 58 it is worse than ever. I have a hard time shifting focus from near to distant objects

And whether it is a factor of age or a rather severe regiem of chemo/radiation therapy I went through 5 years ago I now have a slight tremor in both hands. I can reduce that by firing from a supported position but even that is not without problems.

Having said that I have an ArmaLaser on my Kel Tec P32 and using that I can put 7 rounds on a target printed on 8.5X11" paper at 7 yards fairly quickly.

And I have a 410 shotgun with a spreader chioke to use as a HD firearm. That is soon to be replaced by a 12 ga w/18.5" barrel.

More importantly though (IMHO), I've actually been in combat. I was able to put bullets on taget while under fire 40 years ago and see no reason why I couldn't do the same today.

Doc2005,
What gun were you shooting?

XavierBreath,
The broad side of that barn is quite a target :D

B yond,
LOL :neener:I once bumped into the same guy.

Ala Dan,
Seems someone has you beat by a quarter:

I generally shoot @ 7-25 yards and shoot 3-4" groups simulating fast draw SD/HD. I figure if I can hit any target and group my shots within the plam of my hand I'm doing OK. I have had less than 1" groups when using a slow shooting technique in a Isosceles or weaver Stance. my worst groups are with my S&W j frames. They are the 4" groups, ironically I shoot most accurately with a 1911 style .45

With Rifles, from a rest, I group in less than a dime @ 100 yards <1" moa.

Here is a group from last night's session. I was shooting a Kimber Pro Carry II shooting @ 12 yards with 230 grain FMJ either CCI Blazer Brass or Speer Lawman. I was bringing the gun up from a rest into an Isosceles stance. This is a 8 round group. I can get tighter groups with a steady slow shooting technique and one ragged hole from a rest.

Only just got my first handgun (Beretta 87BB) a couple of days ago, so its too early to be posting targets from that. My very first ever 6 shots with a pistol at 12yds were evenly distributed over about a 5" area. At the time it was almost dark (my excuse anyway), so hopefully things will improve with practice.

plenty of squirrels have died from my bbgun years. and plenty of alpha during IPSC and plenty of people shot in a old sears catalog at 10 paces when learning to shoot with dad and grandpa with a 22

This is with a S&W 66-1 at 25 ft. I have a flinching problem that makes me go down and to the left.
my dad thinks it’s funny that when I flinch I go down.

On this one I aimed for the NRA in the corner.
