Well it was a beautiful fall weekend the leaves were just about at their peak color change and GirlWithAGun and I were back home to visit family. So of course it was time for some informal trap on the family farmland with my Dad and the boys.

I had with me my somewhat talked about 28ga Beretta and a recent purchase I had wanted to play around with. We started off slow with singles to get used to the new launcher. My Dad took to the Beretta with some occassional hickups when he forgot to take the safety off. We burned through a couple boxes of 28 and then switched over to the "new one" a Saiga 12.

Now most know a Saiga isn't exactly a trap gun and this one definitely isn't. It has a 18.5" barrel and is at most a fixed IC choke. It also has rough rifle sights which don't help things out that much. It did decent though. Dad didn't like it that much but I did, there's just something about a magazine fed 12 gauge.

At the end of our shoot my Dad mentioned that he'd get back in to hunting more if he had a gun like the Beretta. A bum knee had kept him out of the woods the last couple years. So at the end of our trip I left and the Beretta stayed behind with a couple boxes of shells. Last I knew he was out picking up some shells with 7 1/2s. We'll see how he likes it once he gets it in the field but it looks like I may be in the market for another 28!

Anyway here's a shot of my Dad with the 28 and a helper we had with the launcher.

I honestly don't know what to say.

I am that moved.

My heart first sank from the thread title - the word Lost made me hesitate to click this thread. Then I view the pics, a picture is truly worth a thousand words. Then I read you left the gun to your father. Wow!

You did not lose your Beretta 28 ga. You just passed forward for a bit is all.

The gun may be on loan, the enjoyment of your father hunting afield again , his own memories , memories being made for you, GWG and the young helper...

Like I said, words do not describe, and I am having difficulty in expressing myself.

Thank you anaex and GWG for Sharing.

Dave - I too rushed to check on your health after the thread title :D !! I am now more at ease and happy that Anapex Sr has custody of that beauty!!

But hey fella - have you forgotten about pic sizing haha - sheesh man they are huge tho no probs here other than stretching browser to full 1600 wide to show whole pics (nice pics BTW!).

Mantra - say after me - ''640x480 or thereabouts, is good image size'' LOL!

Best to you and Erica.

Wow.....that's awesome! Thanks for getting my day started off on a good note.

...and you set a great example for that little helper too. Don't care what they all say about you, anapex, you're a good kid. That was a neat thing to do.
