Well it was a beautiful fall weekend the leaves were just about at their peak color change and GirlWithAGun and I were back home to visit family. So of course it was time for some informal trap on the family farmland with my Dad and the boys.
I had with me my somewhat talked about 28ga Beretta and a recent purchase I had wanted to play around with. We started off slow with singles to get used to the new launcher. My Dad took to the Beretta with some occassional hickups when he forgot to take the safety off. We burned through a couple boxes of 28 and then switched over to the "new one" a Saiga 12.
Now most know a Saiga isn't exactly a trap gun and this one definitely isn't. It has a 18.5" barrel and is at most a fixed IC choke. It also has rough rifle sights which don't help things out that much. It did decent though. Dad didn't like it that much but I did, there's just something about a magazine fed 12 gauge.
At the end of our shoot my Dad mentioned that he'd get back in to hunting more if he had a gun like the Beretta. A bum knee had kept him out of the woods the last couple years. So at the end of our trip I left and the Beretta stayed behind with a couple boxes of shells. Last I knew he was out picking up some shells with 7 1/2s. We'll see how he likes it once he gets it in the field but it looks like I may be in the market for another 28!
Anyway here's a shot of my Dad with the 28 and a helper we had with the launcher.
