i know i know, enough AR threads, but there are always questions!
Ive been compiling a list of things i need to buy this year. Ofcourse with the possibility of some things not being available next year, there are some items that take precedent over others. Mags and clips being a big item. I have 6 right now, all aluminum teflon coated w/ green followers, ive got a couple pmags on the way. How many is enough? i was thinkin if i have 15 30rd mags that would suffice. but i notice some people buy that many in one order. so how many is enough?

Some will hoard, some will not. I carry enough for one load out (similar to Army load out 7 magazines of 28-30). I have seven USGI and seven nice Orlites for kick around use. You are going to get all sorts of pics and answers to this.

How much ammo you got? :neener:

The way I see it, right now AR mags are relatively cheap so I figure you might as well stockpile as many as you have room to store.

Ammo is #1-4 on my list of things needed for '08! 5000 rds of each cal.! i feel like that much ammo is a pipedream tho. so mch money!

I plan on at least having as many mags as necissary to store my ammo, preferrably PMAGs. The more ammo I own, the more mags I buy, etc. But, I'm aiming for about 10 PMAGs.

I have over 300 in my basement. I do not have "enough".

I used to say a rail car full, but with '09 coming, I now say two rail cars rull.:)

Get those Magpul followers in your mags. They are really working well in my mags.

I lent PMags to a fellow student in a urban rifle class at Thunder Ranch last week. They worked very well, do not know how they will hold up over time, but I have a lot of confidence in them.

I dont see why anything on them would go bad after along time. Mostly everyone on here has seen the PMag vs Chevy vid but I saw another vid where a guy had one that had been shot and had a bullet hole going all the way through it and had a piece of the spring sticking out of it and it still DIDN'T fail. Thats something that might actually happen if you are carring them in a vest as apposed to them getting run over by a Chevy.

If one twenty-round magazine won't let you solve your social problem, your problem is not with a shortage of magazines.

It's with a serious shortage of help. A one-man squad doesn't do well when the major question is, "Where'd all those Injuns come from?"

Let quantity of magazines = X
Let Bankrupt Insanity = Y

X+1= Y

As you approach Y you will also approach "Enough Magazines/Ammo"

but it needs to have the ammo your rifle is zeroed for in it.
Depends on your SHTF weapon. My stash consists of XM193 which my AR is zeroed for but M855 hits paper at 100 yards and in critical areas too. Of course, I don't plan on engaging in fire fights that exceed 100 yards.

I have mag guidelines that I've put in place for everything I own...

If I only own one example of a rifle that takes a certain type of mags, then I shoot for 15 of each.

If I have more than one rifle that takes the same magazines, then 10 for each gun.

Granted, I'm not there yet for a lot of stuff.

For my one and only AR, I think I'll end up with 3 30 round and 4 20 round PMAGS plus a few USGI metal 20 & 30 rounders...

DPMS has AR mags for 11.95 each...grey dry film with the green followers. I order 6 at a time every couple of weeks.

Quality and status trump quantity. Specifically, better to have 10 loaded with excellent quality ammo that go to a properly zeroed rifle, than to have 10,000 empty for a rifle that collects dust. JMHO.

Well they aren't going to get any cheaper or any easier to get as time goes by and they definately aren't going to drop in value('08 elections) so I say buy as many as you can afford.

I usually buy 5-10 AR mags and 5-10 AK mags everytime I order something gun related, vacuum seal them and store them away...and keep my range mags loaded.

Now that I am thinking about it, I need more AR 10 mags...

Minimum of 3 per weapon.

Maximum of, wait, there is no max.

In reality. I have 2 or 3 mags per pistol, around 8 or 10 for my Mini 14, and 3 for my AR, but I would like 3 more AR mags. I gave about 8 away along with my last AR. (my nephew, there not far ;) )

I have 25 mags for my Stag and plan on buying at least ten more in the near future.

Flip.

I think 10 good mags is more than enough for me. However, after seeing what happened during the last ban, I might just have to pick up several cases as an investment. I should also pick up some high cap Glock mags while they are still cheap. That is assuming that there is a new ban coming and that they will let you sell pre-ban mags after the ban. :what:

I have ten for my AR.

If I need more than that... I'm probably screwed. And it's time to dig out the big stash of mauser ammo on stripper clips. ;)
