Seriously, I could say I "need" a good deer rifle, but I really don't hunt deer all that often anymore. I could really just keep using the shotgun I've always used for deer hunting, or I could press an SKS or a Mosin into duty once in a while.
How many will I buy? I have no idea really. I don't have a list.
I just want 3
-EMP 9mm
-Ruger 77 MKII all weather in 30-06
-AA 12g
these three would round out my collection and allow me to utilize what I have for what I need.
Well at one gun a month I suppose it's a lot and I hopefully have a lot more months to live - take that you anti-gunners in NJ limiting my rights
Truthfully though it's hard to say as I have yet to buy a revolver, but having tried a nice S&W 357 I know I want one someday. And then once you have one, well you know what happens... Then there's a few shotguns more once I start hunting and skeet shooting with my son. So maybe only 4 or 5, but who knows, really!
Thought I only needed 2, then 3 then 6 and I'd have to consult my inventory list to tell you what I have now but I need 6 more and want more but I can't store all I have so maybe I need a bigger house with a couple of dedicated gun rooms, somebody to reload and clean guns for me and somebody to put up targets for me.
Well a bigger house with a dedicated gun room and 6, 8.....a few more guns.
I've only got one and I can identify somewhere between 8 and 15 specific guns or specific types of gun (with exact model undetermined), that I'd like to have for various purposes (including one that is essentially useless but which I'd like to have just because).
The one that I have is my .22 plinking pistol, a Ruger Mark III Hunter.
The others, in no particular order, are:
A centerfire range pistol, I want a Taurus PT99
A .22 rifle
A centerfire rifle, possibly an AR-15
A 20 gauge shotgun
A primary carry gun -- to be a Taurus 85 revolver
One of those beautiful, little, small caliber "lady's guns" of a size that would fit in the tiniest evening bag just because I want one.
A single-action .22 revolver because I believe that's the best gun to teach children and newbies the fundamentals, probably a Bearcat because I have two young sons who will grow into it.
Some kind of handgun chambered in .45 in case I ever need to make larger holes for whatever reason.
A blackpowder pistol for Civil War reenacting?
2-3 extras of my favorite types in case one is in need of repair or to have on hand when taking people who don't have guns shooting.
I always think I'm just a few shy of what I "have" to have, then the manufacturers come out with something new and "bam", I'm off and running again..........i.e., the collection will never be finished.
I thought once I got my AR finished I'd slow down for a bit. But now that I've got my upper purchase planned for this weekend I'm alreadyt thinking ahead to what's next.
The good news is that I don't yet have anything picked out.
What is this "finished" concept you speak of? Every time I get a gun I think of half a dozen more that I want.
I think a collection like Bruce Stern had would be something to shoot for, although I doubt he was "finished", and I don't think I would be either
